All of this, while enjoying the safety and comfort of your private 2-bedroom houseboat. The space The Present day houseboats are in fact a reworked version of the Kettuvallams of olden times. The original Kettuvallams were used to carry tons of rice and spices. A standard Kettuvallam can hold up to 30 tons of goods from Kuttanad to the Kochi port. Back in the day a portion of the kettuvallom was covered with bamboo and coir to serve as a restroom and kitchen for the crew. Meals would be cooked on board and supplemented with fresh fish from the backwaters. The tradition is still continued on the houseboats of today and typical Kerala cuisine is served by the crew on board, who themselves come from Kuttanad, the heart of the backwaters nclusions in the tariff: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Evening tea / coffee and snacks Drinking water Air-conditioning from 7 pm to 7 am. Running hot and cold water A 45 min country canoe ride through the smaller canals House boat will dock during lunch time and also after 5:30 pm. Alcohol will not be sold in the house boat, Guest are free to carry and consume alcohol on the boat. We advise our guests not to purchase seafood or backwater fish from other vendors during the cruise, as we cannot guarantee the freshness and quality of these products. If you would like to include seafood or backwater fish, such as prawns or shrimp, which is not part of the menu, please inform us in advance. This will allow us to procure the necessary items before your cruise begins, at an additional cost. For full time Air-conditioning in rooms, INR 2500 per room would be charged as supplement. Extra Child rate would be INR 500 each per child without Mattress Guest access The entire Houseboat Other things to note We have a fixed itinerary for the cruise. The boat cruises through the backwaters, passing by paddy fields and coconut farms. Despite regular pest control, there are chances of mosquitoes entering the open areas. To prevent mosquitoes from entering your rooms, please keep your bedrooms closed at all times during the cruise. We provide mosquito repellents in rooms, if you need additional mosquito repellent, feel free to ask the crew. We offer the luxury of an unplugged experience, encouraging you to enjoy time with your loved ones without Wi-Fi. However, if you prefer to have Wi-Fi, we can provide a Wi-Fi dongle for INR 350 per day if informed in advance. Please note that the mobile service and signal can be choppy in some areas of the backwaters. We serve traditional Kerala cuisine during your cruise. The menu is as below. Traditional Kerala Lunch with the choice of rice (Kerala rice or White rice) and cuisine (Veg or Non Veg) as pre-confirmed before check in. Main dish Non Vegetarian : Fried Fish Vegetarian : Paneer - A fresh acid-set cottage cheese. Dinner with the choice of rice, Indian bread and cuisine (Veg or Non Veg) as pre-confirmed before check Main dish Non Vegeterian : Chicken - Kerala style chicken curry. Vegeterian : Dal (Lentil) - A simple home-style lentil curry. Breakfast - Fruit juice , Cut Fruits, Bread, Butter, Jam, choice of eggs & Tea / Coffee. Served along with any one of the staple Kerala Breakfast dishes Please be advised that water pressure in the taps may be reduced during cruising. If necessary, kindly ask our crew to switch on the pressure pumps to ensure adequate water pressure. Hot water will be available. Please ask the crew to switch on the water heater when required as the water heater works on Gas and for safety purpose will be switched on only when required. If hot water is required during the cruise, kindly inform the crew. Board games are available on the houseboats. Fishing Rods are available on the houseboats free of cost.
