Description
The Loft House is a 780 sf 2nd story home my dad & brother built above a shared, free standing garage on our family’s property. It is directly adjacent to my parents home, and nestled amongst the tops of trees on the green side of the Wasatch mountains. It features a beautiful, wrap around deck on 3 sides, and indoors has an old world, whimsical & artisan feel. Chickens roam freely on our 2 acres; we grow an organic garden. Guests are welcome to share the yard & gardens.. & forage for eggs! The space You’ll have the whole place to yourself while you’re here! It is my primary place of residence. I keep it very clean and uncluttered… But my personal belongings will be in the space. (If you are allergic to cats please don’t rent the space). Inside the Loft House the LR/Full Kitchen is large and spacious. There are stairs behind the center shelves) on the North side of the LR that lead to a sleeping loft with a double bed. There’s an efficiency washer/dryer w/shelving for extra towels, sheets, rags, etc. available to guests and a small bathroom (shower only) adjacent to the kitchen. There is also a small bedroom with a queen bed adjacent to the LR, beneath the sleeping loft. The Loft House is well lit, but has options for lower lighting at night. Beautiful surround artisan blinds add to a sense of privacy as needed. A wrap around deck provides views of the surrounding moutains from 3 sides. Our 2 acres is mostly farmland; we have sheep that graze in the pastures here in the warmer months; at times horses or a cow. We have a beautiful red barn that my dad/brother have restored on the property. My mom has a great green thumb; we grow an organic garden every year (free of pesticides/herbicides) and we have a lot of healthy, thriving plants in the yard and mature trees grace the property. We feed the birds; Chickadees, Nuthatches, Pine Siskins, Finches and Juncos are regular visitors at the bird feeder. Depending on what time of year it is one can view Canada Geese, Sandhill Cranes, Hawks, Ravens & Crows fly overhead. We also see an occasional Western Tanager, Downy Woodpecker, Flickers. There's a small pond in the back by the garden; in the warmer months frogs, fish, lily pads and dragonflies thrive in it. There's also a small bench by the pond, and picnic table under Willow Tree that guests are welcome to use & enjoy. Guest access Guests have access to the whole space; including the wrap around deck (on 3 sides) and are welcome to enjoy the property at large. Other things to note The Loft House has a cozy woodburning stove indoors that guests are welcome to use when air quality/safety permits. There is also an outdoor firepit which may be accessible to guests, pending the same conditions. Please ask! :-) We have plenty of wood & kindling available. Absolutely NO fire starter fluid allowed on the property. A few other things: -We compost and recycle and provide containers for that. I have a high quality Berkey filter for guests to use; also a chlorine filter in the shower so the water is very clean and tastes great. We like to keep bottled water off the premises, if possible. -Also, please shoes off in the house (especially on the area rug by the couch, carpeted stairs/sleeping loft). -NO use of chemical air fresheners/household harsh chemicals in the house or on the premises. I use essential oils and burn Tibetan Incense year round so there is a slighty woody scent in the air at all times. I also use all natural cleaning products including citrus oil and vinegar. If any of that bothers you; this space is not for you. -If you're highly allergic to cats, please don't book. My cat, Feather, lives in the house with me. He won't be inside the Loft House during your stay. But he will be around the property. He is very friendly and may "ask" to come in...you're welcome to let him in or not, at your discretion. :-) Since we have cats and chickens on the property we don’t normally allow dogs. But we could make a special exception for a dog that is not a cat/chicken chaser and that is well contained by you on the property. So just ask.
