Otter's Hatch | A Coaste Home - Cosy Tudor Cottage
Description
Hi, I’m Ally at Coaste. Lovely to meet you. Otter's Hatch is part of the Coaste collection, a small boutique holiday-letting agency based in Deal. We specialise in stylish homes and helpful local tips, making sure your holiday feels easy from start to finish. Here’s what our guests love most about this home… The space Otter's Hatch by Coaste is the perfect pick if you’re craving quintessential cottage appeal - reminiscent of Wind in the Willows at every turn. With its crooked walls and dusty pink-blush exterior, Otter’s Hatch is a charming Tudor cottage in the heart of the medieval town of Sandwich. From winter warming escapes with cosy log fires and evenings spent curled up on the sofa, to long summer days spent relaxing in the secluded walled garden, Otter’s Hatch is a perfect year-round destination. The cottage is positioned in the heart of Sandwich - a quiet medieval town settled on the banks of the River Stour. There’s plenty to do: choose to spend your days in hiking boots or heels (whatever your style), before returning to curl up by the wood-burner or sip wine in the garden on hazy summer evenings under pink skies. Culinary enthusiasts have a well-equipped kitchen in which to get creative, with an abundance of local produce - from the sea and land - readily available for those who want to enjoy a true taste of Kent. Upstairs enjoy a soak in the petite-clawfoot bath, and then snuggle up under lovely linens on the comfy beds. A short drive from Otter’s Hatch is Sandwich Bay - a quiet stretch of beach frequented mainly by locals and the odd tourist. At low tide the beach is sandy and it’s not uncommon to spot the odd seal or two if you’re lucky enough! Spend the day relaxing here in summer, dip your toes in the Channel or stretch your legs with a walk or a cycle ride up to the buzzy seaside town of Deal – be sure to finish off with a well-deserved pint at the George and Dragon, a cosy inn dating back to 1446, just a hop and a skip from the house itself. A NOTE IF YOU BRING A DOGGIE: The house allows one well behaved dog, but we request you do not leave your pooch unattended in the house at any time, so he/she is always happy and calm in his/her home-from-home. May we also ask that all traces of dog waste are removed from the garden. Our cleaners cannot dispose of dog waste and if we ask them to then they will charge us. So please could you take any waste with you. Parking As with most properties in the centre of historic Sandwich, there is no on-street parking directly outside the house. If you’re bringing a car, there are good options nearby: free parking is usually available about a 5–8 minute walk away, and there’s a convenient paid car park on the Quay, just a 2-minute walk from the house. Most guests find it easy to drop off their bags and then park up for a relaxed stay. *STRICTLY NO PARTIES PERMITTED* Ground floor Kitchen: Includes: • Microwave • gas hob and oven • Fridge and freezer Lounge: Includes: • Wood burner • Seating for 4 • Access to garden Garden: Includes: • BBQ • Seating for 4 First floor Double bedroom: Includes: • Access to bath and WC is on the landing side of the bedroom, so easily accessible for both bedrooms • Access to separate shower is on the landing side of the bedroom, so easily accessible for both bedrooms • Double bed • Wardrobe Bathroom: Includes: Bath with an overhead shower • Handbasin • WC • Separate shower, opposite bathroom WC Additional WC opposite second bedroom Second Double bedroom Includes: • Double bed • Wardrobe Special note: The property has retained its original Tudor features including the architectural layout. What to bring: - The property is completely self catering, so please bring any food you will want during your stay to cook with for example a special oil or herb (we clear the cupboards before each guest, so we'd prefer you to be prepared rather than disappointed if we do not have something you need). - Please also bring with you any toiletries that you wish to use such as body-wash, shampoo and conditioner as we do not leave these things (we do leave hand soap though, but personal things such as shampoo, body wash, deodorant we do not). - Guests often ask us if we leave towels and bedding - yes we do! We will leave a bath towel for each guest as well as a hand towel for the bathroom/s. We also provide items such as a tea towel, dish cloth/sponge, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, hand soap, and loo roll.
