Tucked away in the forest, The Den provides an intimate environment, ideal for couples or individuals seeking a restorative retreat. End your day exploring the trails and beaches with a rejuvenating soak in the wood fired hot tub. This is the perfect place to slow down and surround yourself in the natural beauty of our island. Check out @wolfdencabinvashon on Insta! The Wolf Den is tucked away on the edge of our shared 4 acre property. From the parking area, a short walk on a delightful woodland trail opens up and welcomes you to your very own private retreat. The architecturally simple yet significant black cedar cabin blends in beautifully with it's forested surroundings. Despite the cabin's relatively small footprint, the cedar lined cathedral ceilings make the living area feel quite spacious. Cozy up on the couch and look out at the big leaf maples, madronas and towering firs. The kitchenette features a mini-fridge, microwave, toaster, electric tea kettle, French press, and general kitchenware (glasses, plates, bowls, cutting board, bread knife and utensils). Included is fresh island roasted coffee and a curated selection of loose and bagged teas. We also have a BBQ gas grill with a griddle on the side deck accessible from the door off the kitchenette to accommodate your grilling and light cooking needs. *Ask us about the best place to get fresh salmon when in season! The generous sized bathroom comes well equipped with all the amenities including, organic cotton towels, Public Goods shampoo, conditioner, liquid soap, Kiehl's hand lotion and a hairdryer. If you forgot anything, just let us know. The sleeping loft with a full sized bed is bathed in natural light from a manually opening skylight. You will feel like you are up in the trees gazing out at the stars on clear nights or drifting off to sleep with the sound of rain on the metal roof. The front deck is the perfect spot to enjoy a cup of coffee or tea and that novel you have been meaning to finish. In the warmer months, grab takeout from one of Vashon’s many great restaurants and dine al fresco while looking out over the small orchard and gardens in the late afternoon sun. Deer frequently wander through our property, as well as, a wide variety of birds, including our favorite resident barred owl, lovingly named Hooty. We are happy to announce the new Goodland Wood Fired Soaking Tub available exclusively for guests! Perfect for 2 people and just steps from the cabin, this eco friendly tub is powered by fallen timber collected from our properties. The tub takes on average 2-3 hours to heat up and does require attending to the fire during that time. This is yet another wonderful opportunity to find stillness and fully engage with the land. You will have access to the trails from the parking area to the open area in the front of the cabin and the little magical forested area in the back. We do reside on the property in the main house separated by a cedar fence and small orchard. We will make every effort to provide you with privacy and we ask that you confine your activities to the areas described above. This is your getaway! While we really enjoy meeting and interacting with our guests, we always strive to respect their privacy should that be their preference. We are available via phone or text if guests have any questions, would like local recommendations or need help during their stay. Since the Wolf Den is located on the same property as our main residence, we request quiet hours between 10pm and 8am. A wonderfully secluded, forested area on the westside of Vashon Island. We are 2 miles from the nearest coffee shop and 3 miles to the center of town. The bus line, which runs the length of the island, is two miles away from the cabin. If you are planning to visit us without a vehicle, it is totally possible, but do let us know when you book so we can advise you on transportation options during your stay. The sleeping area is located in the loft accessible by a generous sized library ladder. You MUST be comfortable going up and down a ladder. Sorry, NO PETS - While we love animals, we are not able to accommodate pets at The Wolf Den NO EXCEPTIONS. Due to the uniqueness of the space, children under 12 are not allowed for safety considerations. The cabin has its own separate parking pad for 1 vehicle up to a full size pickup truck. From the parking area, the cabin is located at the end of a ~100ft natural walking trail through the forest. We have a cart for you to transport your luggage and the trail has a charming string of lights to guide your way at night. Please let us know in advance if you will be visiting the island without a car. The nearest bus stop is 2 miles from the cabin. Uber does not work on the island, however, there is a dedicated shuttle service comprised of individual drivers and we will happily share their information with you.
