Description

Discover the natural beauty of Vashon Island from the comfort of a cozy, modern tiny cabin. A short ferry ride from Seattle or Tacoma, The Wolf Den is tucked away in the forest, offering the perfect retreat for couples or solo travelers seeking a restorative getaway. With all the amenities for a relaxing stay, you’ll feel right at home. After exploring the island’s trails, beaches, and local attractions, unwind in the wood-fired hot tub and let the calming rhythm of island life rejuvenate you. The space The Wolf Den is nestled on the edge of our shared 4-acre property, accessible via a short walk along a charming woodland trail. The black cedar cabin blends beautifully with the natural surroundings, offering a tranquil escape. The living area, with its cedar-lined cathedral ceilings, feels surprisingly spacious despite the cabin’s small footprint. Cozy up on the couch and enjoy views of towering firs, madronas, and big leaf maples. Secluded, yet close to Vashon’s shops and eateries, the cabin offers the perfect balance of peace and convenience. Amenities: Kitchennette: The kitchenette is perfectly appointed for snacking and preparing light meals. Thoughtfully equipped with a mini-fridge, freezer, microwave and toaster. We also provide an electric tea kettle and French press to help you craft the perfect morning brew. If you’re in the mood for outdoor cooking, a gas powered BBQ grill is located on the side deck. Welcome Extras: For coffee and tea enthusiasts, we offer island-roasted coffee, a selection of loose and bagged teas and a variety of locally sourced goodies to welcome you during your stay. Sleeping Loft: The standing-height loft gives you the feeling of being up in the trees. A full-sized bed with cozy, high-quality linens ensures a restful night’s sleep. The manually opening skylight is left uncovered, allowing the natural rhythm of the day to fill the space. You’ll love drifting off to sleep while listening to the soothing sound of rain on the metal roof. Bathroom: Indulge in luxurious Turkish cotton towels for a spa-like experience. The bathroom is stocked with high-quality toiletries, including Public Goods shampoo and conditioner, liquid soap, Kiehl’s hand lotion, and a hairdryer for your convenience. Forgot something essential? Just let us know, and we’ll be happy to assist. Wood-Fired Soaking Tub: Exclusively for guests, our eco-friendly hot tub is heated using fallen timber from the property, offering a unique and natural way to unwind. It takes about two hours to heat and does require tending the fire. In summer, it doubles as a refreshing cold plunge. *New* If you’d like us to handle heating the tub for you, please inquire for details and pricing. Front Deck: During the warm months, start your morning out on the front deck with a cup of coffee or tea and that novel you’ve been meaning to finish. You'll be serenaded by melodic birdsong, and if you're lucky, you might catch a glimpse of our favorite resident barred owl, Hooty or deer that frequent the property. It's also an ideal spot for al fresco dining with takeout from one of the island’s many excellent local restaurants. Hammock: Relax in the cozy two-person hammock, available during the summer months and tucked away under the trees behind the cabin. It’s a peaceful spot to unwind and connect with nature. Guest access This is a wonderful space for you to slow down, soak in nature and connect. You will have access to the trails from the parking area to the open area in the front of the cabin and the little magical forested area in the back. We do reside on the property in the main house a distance away and separated by a cedar fence and small orchard. We will make every effort to provide you with privacy and we ask that you confine your activities to the areas described above. Other things to note Loft Access: The sleeping loft is accessible via a tall library ladder. You must be comfortable using it. Natural Light: The venting skylight in the loft lets in warm, natural light. The mornings here in the summer months can be bright, so if you’re sensitive to sunlight, we recommend bringing a sleep mask to ensure a peaceful start to your day. No Pets: No exceptions. No Children Under 12 Hot Tub Restrictions: While the wood fired hot tub can typically be used year round, during Washington mandated burn bans or excessively dry/hot summer days, it may be used as a cold plunge only. Because wood is a precious resource, we provide enough wood/kindling for 1-2 uses during your stay. Additional wood can be purchased directly through us. Parking: The cabin includes a dedicated parking pad for one vehicle, accommodating up to a full-size pickup truck or van. Detailed directions—complete with a pin to the exact location and a visual map—will be provided before check-in. A short walk from the parking area follows a natural trail lit by string lights for easy nighttime visibility. Water: A whole-house water filter provides great-tasting water (no additional filtration needed). Traveling Without a Car? The cabin is about 2 miles from the nearest bus stop and 3 miles from the center of town. Uber and Lyft are not always reliable on the island, so if you’re visiting without a vehicle, please arrange transportation in advance with Vashon’s local ride service to avoid being stranded at the ferry.
