The area is a protected forever wild forest preserve renowned for its fauna and flora. The cabin itself is also a sanctuary, your peaceful refuge from the din of everyday city life. Located at the base of Woodland Valley on Woodland Valley Road, a mile from Phoenicia, the Esopus Sanctuary features a nicely stocked kitchen, 1 and 1/2 bathrooms with bath and shower, 2 separate bedrooms each with full-sized beds and quality linens. The wood burning fireplace is priceless for the comfort it provides, wood and fire starters are included. The landscaped yard is picture perfect. Locals hang out on the other side of the tributary as well as the occasional fly fishermen. Imagine the sound of whitewater from the Esopus Creek and a pristine, local swimming hole just across the Woodland Valley Creek favored by locals, and it's located just a stone's throw from your backyard. We're known for our friendly, artsy and unpretentious small town charm combined with great restaurant and pub choices. If you want to venture out, the Hudson Valley has a treasure chest of cultural offerings. This is a perfect time for late winter / early spring activities. Hike one of the trails, or ski one of the four ski resorts in the area. Our house guide provides a range of suggestions for what to do in the area. Relax on the deck, take a scenic drive, check out one of the farm-to-table restaurants, get cozy in front of the fireplace in the cooler evenings and take in the night sky ... restorative and magical. There are split heating-cooling systems in both the living room and sunroom that accommodates the whole house. Heats in the winter and cools during the summer. Off street parking This is a standalone corner property along the Esopus Creek on Woodland Valley Road with multiple river and mountain views. The property is private but there are seasonal anglers and swimmers that share the Esopus Creek in the summer months. There is very light car traffic on Woodland Valley Road with a maybe an occasional walker, cyclist or jogger. The property is located on quiet and safe historic area. The general area is comprised of full-time residents, weekend residents, second homeowners, seasonal guests and short-term vacation rental guests. We are located less than a mile from Main Street Phoenicia. There are no Uber/ Lyft services in the area so you will need a car. Guests will have access to dedicated parking. You can take an Trailways or local bus to Kingston and a local bus to Woodstock and Kingston. Renting a car is recommended. Or you can take the Amtrak train to Rhinecliff and rent a car from there. 2-Day minimum. 10% discount 7 days; 20% for 3 weeks plus. The property is not suitable for small children. NO PETS OR OTHER ANIMALS PERMITTED DUE TO OWNER ALLERGIES. Hot tub and shower only available seasonally from mid April to mid October.
