Cozy Alaska yurt - Full bathroom
Description
Experience the Alaska lifestyle in our cozy, ON-grid yurt. Nestled a short walk up the hillside, you'll be serenaded by squirrels and can watch the trees rustling overhead from your new firm memory foam bed. Far from "roughing it", this yurt has all the amenities: hot and cold running (drinkable) water, electricity, a full kitchen and a shower. While there is a composting toilet inside the yurt, if you'd like to stick to a "normal" toilet, there is also a shared restroom near the parking area. The space We are located just outside of Seward city limits, about a 5 minute drive to the harbor. You'll share nearly an acre with 2 other nightly rentals. Hernan and I live in one of the tiny homes on the property and are often around. We also rent out a tiny home on the other side of the property to a quiet year-round resident. There is plenty of outdoor space and a shared firepit, grill and chairs that you're welcome to use as well. The yurt is set apart from the other dwellings and you won’t find anyone in your space unless you invite them. Guest access You're welcome to use the shared firepit, bbq grill at the firepit and the laundry facility. These spaces are shared with everyone on the property, but you will often have them all to yourself. The grill is not regularly cleaned, and we ask that you leave it better than you found it with the tools provided. You'll find laundry baskets and detergent in the shared laundry facility where the washer/dryer are located. Guests are able to do one load of laundry from 4pm to midnight. We ask that you set a timer and make sure to remove your clothes from the washer and dryer as soon as they're done. There are often others waiting to use the washer and dryer. You are also welcome to use the "normal" toilet where the washer and dryer are located if you aren't accustomed to the composting one inside the yurt. Just be sure to lock the door so someone doesn’t walk in on you! Other things to note We provide black-out shades on all windows and have made a custom cover for our dome. Other yurts around Seward make their guests wear eye masks in order to sleep, which we find uncomfortable. The custom dome cover will black out the midnight sun and make it easy for you to get rest so that you can enjoy your busy vacation! Our yurt is not childproofed and we don't offer any amenities for small children (such as cribs or pack and plays). Furthermore, the stairs to the sleeping loft are steep and it may be possible for a child to slip through the stair rail and loft guards and fall. There is also a possibility for small children to fall off the deck. For these reasons, we do not allow instant bookings for families with children under the age of 2. If you choose to request a booking with us anyway, we will assume that you take full responsibility for your child(ren) in this environment and will usually accept your booking. Please note that for insurance reasons, we count infants and small children towards the maximum number of guests allowed. We wish this didn't have to be said, but only one car and the number of guests that are on the booking are allowed to access the property. We may be able to make space for more than one car if you give us advanced notice. Only the number of people in the booking may come to the property. Any extras will need to be added to the reservation via Airbnb (even if they aren’t spending the night) or asked to leave. We are a dog-friendly property and neighborhood. We may allow dogs only to stay in the yurt on a case-by-case basis. They will not be allowed to stay in the yurt unattended, even if they are kenneled. Please let us know if you'd like to bring your furry friend. There will be a $75 fee for each dog. We can recommend some great daycare options if you go for a tour all day! We live at the end of a street, with plenty of forest surrounding the neighboring properties. Know that while its often very quiet, noise can be heard from inside the yurt - along with the sounds of mother nature, you may sometimes hear kids playing in the culdesac, cars entering or exiting the neighboring drives, or neighborhood construction. Please note that we live in wild Alaska. Bears, moose, porcupine, ermine, rabbits and a variety of birds frequent our property. If you’re looking for an urban experience, there are better options in Seward other than our yurt. For those with an adventurous spirit, you’ll love our property!
