Vigdini Traditional Village House is a family home in Karoti, where the owner grew up. Recently and lovingly renovated, the house preserves its unique traditional character while embracing modern comforts. Staying here is like stepping back in time to a previous century, yet with every convenience thoughtfully provided for a truly memorable holiday. Throughout the house, you’ll discover treasured artifacts that have been passed down through generations, adding warmth and soul to every corner. The space The house is a 85 sq.m freshly restored house. Its location is in the heart of Karoti Village. The main entrance of the property leads you to the interior yard. On your right, you see the building that used to be the residence of the owner's grandmother and nowadays is not visitable. A staircase (no railing) on the left leads you to the patio and to the main residence's door. Now, you are in the fully equipped kitchen and see the dining table and the sofa. Two large handcrafted wooden doors open to the bedrooms. Each bedroom has an en-suite bathroom and an open bedroom on a higher level. Wardrobes are in both bedrooms. Bedroom 1 has a window with a view of the patio, and bedroom 2 has a private balcony and exit to the street. The balcony has an outstanding mountain view. There, you can have your coffee in the morning until someone from your party wakes up. The patio is spacious and includes a surprise for you. A jacuzzi for 5 people is accessible to you. There are sun loungers and a large dining table. An umbrella will be very useful during the daytime. Layout Inside: Open Kitchen - dining area with TV and sofa Bedroom 1 large double bed, drawers, TV, en-suite bathroom with tube/curtain and open bedroom 1b on higher level, 2 single beds. Bedroom 2 two single beds, wardrobe, TV, en-suite bathroom with tube/curtain, washing machine and open bedroom 2b on higher level, double bed. Outdoor: Water faucet opposite the gate. Patio with dining table- 8people, sun loungers, an umbrella, jacuzzi for 5 people. Balcony with mountain view, coffee table for 4, separate exit to the street. All windows have shutters! Unfortunately, there is no infrastructure to accommodate the needs of people with limited mobility and wheelchair users, as there are staircases in the property without railing. Guests have access to all areas, indoor and outdoor. Karoti is a little charming village with approx. 250 inhabitants. It is located between Chania and Rethymno. The distance to Rethymno is about 15 km and to Chania about 50 km. The long, sandy, Episkopi and Petres beaches are only 2,5 km away. In Karoti village, there are two traditional café or "kafenio" as the locals call them and one tavern. The tavern is not always open, but if you go there in the morning and tell the owner, what time and what you would like to eat, the tavern will prepare everything for you. The house is close to the village's church and 200 meters uphill is the main road, where you can leave your car and a few meters away you see the garbage bins. Every day a van is selling fresh bread pass the village about 9.30 and 11.00. A van with vegetables and another van with fresh fish pass the village once a week. Just go on the main village road or ask the locals who know the exact times. The biggest village of Rethymno – Episkopi - is about 1 km away from the village. Argiroupolis well-known waterfalls are about 8km away, you can take a wonderful walk in the nature and taste the local cuisine. Kournas Lake could also be an excellent excursion with family or friends. It is just 13 km away. A great day trip could be Kournas lake and Georgioupolis village. You can combine fun for kids on the beach and shopping for adults in Georgioupolis village. Guest access The guests will have full access to the entire house and its amenities, indoors and outdoors.
