Description

Highly recommended by Lonely Planet, Rough Guide, DuMont and Peti Futé. Unique hydro-powered lodge 100m above the Tasman Sea. Ready access to beautiful beaches, rivers and walks. Self-catering (no breakfast provided). The lodge is only accessible via a 10 min walking track up the hill (REASONABLE LEVEL OF FITNESS REQUIRED). Luggage transport via prior arrangement. Shared bathrooms located in the main building. Due to its location the lodge is not suitable for children under 5 years of age. The space The Old Slaughterhouse is a self-catering lodge and offers comfortable and affordable accommodation. Our rooms are simple but cosy and made up with linen, pillows, duvets and hot-water bottle (if needed) are provided. All rooms are surrounded by a large deck from which you can enjoy stunning views and sunsets over the Tasman Sea. Our facilities include: •Two double rooms: Comfortable double beds, made up with linen, duvets and pillows. • Two twin/triple rooms: The twin/triple rooms contain three fully made up single beds and can be booked either as a twin or a triple room •Shared bathroom facilities (2 showers, 2 toilets), LOCATED IN THE MAIN BUILDING, a short walk from the bedrooms •Shared kitchen: Our spacious kitchen is fully equipped, there are two gas hobs and an oven available, lots of pots and pans, crockery, cutlery and of course a fridge but no microwave. Tea and coffee is available at any time. All you'd need to bring is your own food. Guest access A shared kitchen, lounge, dining area and bathrooms . Self catering, guests provide their own meals. Everything is in place for self catering. No hairdryers. No microwave. No laundry facilities. During your stay We live on the premises and will be available for any questions that our guests may have about most things, e.g. the hostel, activities in the surrounding area (bushwalks, swimming, fishing, caving, mountain biking, etc.) Other things to note All our water comes from a spring here on the property and we use a mini-hydro system to generate our electric energy. This limits the use of electric powered utensils and as a result you won't find e.g. microwave ovens, hairdryers or a washing machine here. The ONLY power points are in the MAIN LODGE, where you can recharge your cell phone. Please keep that in mind if you require electrical devices during the night, e.g. respiratory equipment! Limited WiFi is available in the main building. No ensuites, the bathrooms are LOCATED IN THE MAIN BUILDING, a short walk from the bedrooms. We are cooking with gas, our fully equipped kitchen has two gas hobs and one gas oven and we heat the lodge with driftwood from the beach.
