Baymaas Lake House - Lake front Pool Villa
Description
The Baymaas Lake house is perched on the banks of the lake Vembanad, on Kochi's quiet Cheppanam island, an hour's drive from the Airport & 30 minutes from the city. It takes a while to get used to the silence, but there's enough singing and dancing from nature, the rustle of the palms, the hallucinating ripples on the backwaters when the clouds pour and the plop of a naughty pearl spot in a pond opposite your villa. It's a respite from the city's soundtrack you'll welcome with all your heart. The space Is Baymaas a hotel or a home stay? Hotel because the property features modern comforts, staff to look after you and above all, has no owner around on-site. But then, it is indeed someone's home, whose personal belongings you can spot in one of the villas, whose traditional recipes you can treat yourself with and whose children and grandchildren—if not around in the flesh—can all be spotted in the many happy black-and-white photographs that grace a wall. That someone is Baymaa, and the lake house is her living memory. Christened Annie at birth, she was considered the baby of the home. Hence emerged the moniker ‘Baymaa', a derivative of ‘Baby' and ‘Amma', that stuck with all her siblings. Baymaa would come all the way from her permanent home in Kerala's Cherthala town to this second home in Kochi, and stay back for weeks. Once you're here, you'd know why she'd never want to leave. Built around beautiful trees and natural ponds, surrounded by backwaters this villa offers the perfect environment to catch up on one’s down time. The property leans towards an architectural style that is contemporary in design while retaining a distinct local flavor. An exclusive getaway that offers a home away from home experience by seamlessly blending comfort with luxury and immaculate hospitality. This Villa is a living memory that celebrates our mother and her 'joie de vivre' that has always been an inspiration for all of us. Just an intimate dining space that makes you feel like you've been invited over to a friend's for lunch. After all, there's a wall here with those happy black-and-white photos of the family, remember? What's served are traditional homemade meals, just like Baymaa would make for her kids. Expect string hoppers with egg curry for breakfast, juicy Kerala beef fry and karimeen for lunch, and some chicken roast and barramundi for dinner.
