Description

Hi! This is Next To Sea -- a gorgeous, oceanfront Outerbanks beach house with spacious views of the ocean and sound. Designed with guests’ optimum comfort in mind and loaded up on “extras.” Bask in relaxation in this 4-bedroom, 4-bathroom home featuring 3 ocean-facing, en-suite bedrooms, a bunkroom with private deck, and 2 floors of decks. Plus, we've stocked up on top-level amenities, like Vitamix, All Clad, Lenox, Bose, Nikon binoculars, kayaks, toys and more. The space Saturday-Saturday weekly rentals from mid-April through mid-September 2-night minimum mid-Sep through mid-Apr Relax in our fully redesigned and redecorated oceanfront home -- with incredible ocean views. The recent renovation includes: - all new plank flooring throughout the house - brand new furniture in the living room, dining room and bedrooms - built-in bookcases in the family room - 9-foot sliding glass door in the family room, providing panoramic views of the ocean - renovated bathrooms with new vanities with solid-surface tops This house is more than just a rental; it's our family's second home. Thus, we've loaded it with things our family appreciates when we're on vacation in the OBX, including top-level kitchen amenities, like: - A new induction stove - Oven with a built-in air fryer - Stainless French door refrigerator - Lenox silverware - Fitz and Floyd dishware (it has chipped more than expected) - All Clad and Kitchenaid cookware and appliances - Vitamix - Henckel knives - BOSE rechargeable speaker We've also designed the space to maximize outdoor living and comfort with: - Soundside screen porch with wrap-around sectional - Ocean-front upper-level deck with heavy-duty chairs - Dune deck with heavy-duty chairs - "Park grill" installed into the sand just off the dune deck for awesome evening entertaining - Bedroom-level, ocean-facing deck with Nags Head Hammocks double swings and rocking chairs - Bedroom-level soundside deck with hanging swing hammocks The home also comes with (please be aware that some items may rotate or get broken, so double check with us for specific items to be sure they’re there): - 4 kayaks - life jackets - Beach chairs - Beach umbrellas - Beach toys - Beach wagon - Beach cooler - 2 high chairs - Stroller - Electric car charger - Nikon binoculars - Bookcase filled with games and books - Roku TV in every room - All linens and bath towels (not beach towels) - 2 pack 'n plays - Step stools for kids Please note that we do not provide beach towels. Each bedroom is designed with its own unique theme. Upstairs, we have the "Owners' Suite," which includes a queen four-poster bed, dresser and navy reading chair. This room is modern and features a sliding glass door to the top-level deck with views of the ocean beyond. Downstairs bedrooms include the "Bunk Room," which is designed for children with a twin upper bunk, full lower bunk, and optional cot (which we keep stored in the closet along with a pack 'n play). The Bunk Room has a sliding glass door that opens to a sound-facing covered balcony that features two hammock swings. Guests will enjoy the playfulness of the vibrant fish-themed Tommy Bahama bedding and gorgeous carpet. The Bunk Room has an en-suite bathroom with tub and shower. The reading chair in the Bunk Room is my favorite chair in the whole house. It needs to be recovered at some point, but you can enjoy hours and hours of bedtime stories from it until then. Next we have the "Captain's Berth," which is designed to evoke feelings of being on a sturdy 18th Century ship. The Captains Berth features a 38-inch ships wheel, along with a cozy, pleather reading chair, and spy glass for watching the seas. This room is an en-suite and has a king bed and really cool wall with a vinyl print of jellyfish. The sliding glass door opens onto the second-floor deck, providing easy access to the ocean, rocking chairs, and hammock chairs. The fourth bedroom, also an en-suite, is what we're calling the "Botanical Room," complete with new slatted-wood furniture and fauna-themed decor. Enjoy lounging in the green reading chair or open the sliding glass door to take in the breeze while you nap in the king bed or on the deck hammock swings. The second floor deck also includes two double Nagshead Hammock swinging chairs so you can enjoy the sound of the waves while you relax in the shade for nap time, along with two rocking chairs. The dining area features a 10-person steel table (we keep 8 chairs at the table and store 4 extra chairs in the Owners' Suite closet; high chairs are stored in the basement). The custom artwork above the table was done by Shaylen Broughton during an artist-in-residence stay in February 2021 using ocean water from just outside the house. The upstairs screen porch is the perfect spot to lie down with a good book or serve 5:00 cocktails to guests lounging on the teak sectional sofa to enjoy the sunset over the sound. There is only one row of houses between our house and the sound, so the views are expansive and gorgeous. The living room has a massive sectional sofa, a wall of built-in bookcases loaded with games and books for all ages, 65" Roku TV, Nikon binoculars on a tripod, and a 3-panel sliding glass door that provides panoramic views of the beach and ocean. Sturdy, polywood Adirondack chairs will call you to the two-story, oceanside deck, where you can take in the sun and enjoy the unbeatable view. Then, head to the lower-level sand deck to enjoy a cocktail while boiling a low country fish boil over the charcoal park grill and play yard games in the sand! Contact us for more details or to book! Please note: we do not allow pets to join guests. While you and your pet are exceptional, we ask that you not ask to be the exception to this rule. We have found that most people ask anyway and we will know for sure that you have not read this complete listing if you ask to bring your pet. Thank you! :) Guest access The driveway has room for about 4/5 cars or so. We also have a NEMA 14-50 outlet in the carport for a car charger- you will need to bring the appropriate plug/adapter for your car. You won't be able to see the house from the road, so look for the road sign with our logo. Also, be sure to enter and exit the driveway with care, as the sidewalk frequently has walkers and bikers and it can be hard to see them around the trees and bushes. In the winter, we have noticed that water tends to stand at the head of the driveway by the road. The city is working hard to fix their drainage issues. Know that this water is about ankle deep and we have driven comfortably through it with an SUV, truck, and sedan. Other things to note Please purchase travel insurance for your trip. We’ve needed to use it as renters in the Outerbanks when we were evacuated for a hurricane and another time for an illness. We have a strict cancellation policy, so purchasing travel insurance is truly the best way to keep options open. Many credit card companies have built-in travel insurance that may cover some unexpected events. We provide four sit-on-top kayaks, boogie boards, a skim board, beach chairs and umbrellas, which are located in the garage area under the house. Guests assume full liability for injury or death resulting from use of our equipment and toys. We provide life jackets, which guests should use. Trash collection days are Mondays and Thursdays. Recycling is Monday. The city will manage the trash bins, so there’s no need to roll them to the street. We have a Ring camera on the front of the house facing the driveway. Our notifications are turned off, so we only check in when there’s a need. For example, we may use it to make sure changeover day is going smoothly or double check that the grass is a good height in the parking area. Please don't feel self-conscious.
