Home in Durango

Welcome to our beautiful southwestern home with a view of open space and forest. You will be staying on the ground floor of a unique 2 unit home. A long term tenant lives upstairs in a separate apartment with a separate private entrance. Amy and Daniel are available remotely if you need anything during your stay. We are two miles from town, 5 from downtown and 29 miles from Purgatory. It’s the perfect southwest adventure hub! The space Our home is 1300 sq. feet, close to town in an acre of open meadow, with a fenced area of yard. You will be staying on the ground floor of a unique 2 unit home. A long-term tenant lives upstairs in a separate apartment with a separate private entrance. They try hard to be quiet upstairs but you may hear them! You have exclusive access to the house and fenced yard. The house is right off Florida road and very easy to locate. We have neighbors but they are not very close. Inside our home is very comfortable southwestern decor, an open floor plan, a fully equipped kitchen, an attached greenhouse, two beautiful full bathrooms and two cozy bedrooms. We designed our home with passive solar principles in mind. The large south facing windows give a beautiful view of a forested ridge. The house is cooled by night air and heated with sunlight (and a thermostat controlled gas fireplace!). There is a small AC window unit in the summer, keeping the windows open at night cools the house beautifully. You will need to use a couple stairs to travel between the carport and front door. We are available remotely if you need anything during your stay- feel free to reach out anytime! Guest access Guests have access to a fenced yard, approx 30 x 70 feet with 2 gates. There is a grill there, and a flagstone patio. If you need a secure place to store bicycles or other gear just let us know and we can provide access to our storage shed. Other things to note A long term tenant lives upstairs, you will hear them coming and down the stairs, and some noise from them moving around upstairs. They try hard to be quiet! They are mostly gone during the day, the noisiest times are in the evening, about 5-8 pm. If noises bother you please be aware of this, and don’t hesitate to let me know if it is too much! We also live next to a busy road. If doors or windows are open you will hear this while inside, if everything is closed it is quiet.
