Tawny Haven is a small but comfortable studio cottage situated on a 2 acre bushland block in south Bellingen. During your stay you will be serenaded by many bird species and, if lucky, come across some of the other wildlife that makes our home their home. We are also an organic vegetable farm and seasonal produce is often available for sale. And yet we are only a 3 minute drive or a 15 minute walk to the downtown cafes, pubs, restaurants, markets and galleries of Bellingen. The space The main room of the studio contains a double bed as well as a couch and TV. The glass sliding entry doors allow you to enjoy your coffee in bed while watching the birds feed on the grevillea and enjoy their bird bath. A kitchenette then flows off the main room. This was the original mudbrick structure and retains its charm. The kitchenette contains a sink, mini-fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle as well as crockery/cutlery, etc. We supply breakfast items including plunger coffee, tea, milk as well as muesli and Hearthfire's famous fruit and macadamia nut bread. Opposite the kitchen bench is the dining bench where you can take your meals in front of the picture window looking out across the garden. Next is the generously sized bathroom (sorry, no bath!) While there is a small deck out front with table and chairs, it is not undercover. Guest access Tawny Haven is a stand-alone guesthouse on our property with a separate driveway, parking and boardwalk which leads to the studio. While we have attempted to ensure adequate lighting along the boardwalk, please take care as it can be quite slippery when wet! The driveway is not particularly long (20m) but it is set amongst trees. Once in, the only option is to reverse out amongst the trees and between 2 wooden posts (which do have reflector lights to guide your way). There is also a letterbox and an electrical box next to a leaning lamp post (you can see where this is going!) to be mindful of on your way out. If you are not confident in reversing the car out, you can always park on the street. There is a laundry we can make available to guests, located on the bottom level of the main house.
