With Minnewaska, Mohonk, the Gunks, Ashokan Resevoir, endless hiking and biking trails, apple orchards, restaurants, and antiques 15 minutes away, my home is ideally situated for an awesome adventure, whether you intend to burn calories or accumulate them. The space For rent is a large, bright, spacious upstairs bedroom featuring 12 foot cathedral ceilings, a private balcony, vintage 1960s desk and dresser, a cozy loveseat (doubling as a pull-out twin bed), and the most comfortable queen Casper bed. Please note that you might need to share the upstairs bathroom if you overlap with other guests. The upstairs bathroom features heated floors (in the winter), a spacious standing shower with hot hot water and awesome water pressure. The water comes from a well on my property. I prefer to keep the water natural and have opted not to treat it with chemicals. Please be advised that the water may, at times, have a faint sulfuric smell. My bedroom is on the ground floor which also contains the common area - a bright, open-plan living space which includes a modern kitchen, dining area, and living room with a working gas fireplace and 55” TV. You are welcome to use the common space as much or little as you'd like or retreat to your spacious bedroom for privacy and solace. Please be aware that two funny adult cats, DingDong and Lentl, live here and are very affectionate and friendly. Although they don't spend any time in the upstairs bedrooms, the cats do roam freely so my home is not for the cat allergic, sadly. My home is my sanctuary in the woods and I like to keep it quiet, tidy, and serene. Although each room in the house is equipped with a Sonos sound system, I prefer to keep the sound level in the mellow range. Please only book a stay here if you are looking for a home base to relax and slooooow dooooown. This home is a true labor of love. I purchased it in 2018 as an abandoned frame and built the rest - from floors to walls to everything else - with my own paws, much of it using reclaimed or salvaged items. If you look closely, you will see labels with names of original owners peppered throughout the house. Arguably the best feature of my home is the screened porch with its hammock, dining table, and outdoor speakers. In summer months (or on particularly balmy winter days), it’s the place I work, eat, and even sleep. I wouldn’t be surprised if you find yourself doing the same. Nature abounds inside my home and out! I am a plant lunatic and my most beloved ancient plants thrive in the bright light of the second floor. Outside the windows: the ever changing landscape of nature’s whims and wonders. Sunrise, sunset, the shifting seasons, rustling trees, hooting of owl, baby fawns with their white dots, a sky full of stars. And a veggie garden full of veggies! Guest access Full access to all common spaces. My bedroom and personal closets are clearly labeled and off limits. During your stay I live here and work remotely from home. I like to spend my free daytime outdoors and often cook for friends in the evenings. Other things to note It’s important to note that this is not a boutique hotel or formal B&B. This is my home - a space where I live and work. This is not a place for parties or loud music. It's a place to get deep rest and reconnect with yourself and nature.
