Welcome to Mountain View Retreat at Windham! A spacious and newly renovated vacation home with stunning views of Windham mountain. Thoughtfully designed to provide multiple gathering spaces for guests over two levels. We are ideally set up for families with children and groups. Ski the slopes, hike nearby trails or visit our many wonderful local bars and restaurants. However you decide to spend your vacation, Mountain View Retreat offers a home-away-from-home experience in all seasons. The space Mountain View Retreat is a spacious house with a cozy feel. The spaces were designed with our young family in mind. We hope your family will enjoy the house as much as we do. House Layout: First Floor - One of our favorite spaces in the house is the large main living room with vaulted ceilings. An ideal spot for adult entertaining. Play a tune on the beautiful baby grand piano. Put on a record, light a fire, make a cocktail and watch the groomers do their thing on Windham Mountain - all right from your living room. During the warmer months enjoy grilling on the patio while peepers sing their love song. Experience the darkest night sky you have ever seen. No light pollution means endless stars. A well stocked and fully equipped kitchen awaits the chefs. A large dining room table will accommodate the entire family for shared meals. All bedrooms are on this level. The primary bedroom is a very large room with a king size bed and an en suite bathroom. Bedroom 2 is large and comfortable with a queen size bed and a Wifi connected television and ready for you to log in to your streaming channels. Bedroom 3 accommodates our smallest guests with two bunk beds or four single beds. There is a shared full bathroom in the hallway. Lower Level - A second living room offers a sectional large enough to fit the entire extended family for movie night. A large screen TV is Wifi connected and ready for you to log in to your streaming channels. The sectional has a pull out queen bed should additional space be needed. Board games and toys available as well as a game area with a ping pong table. A separate adjacent screening room is set up with a movie projector and leather recliner seats. There is also a half bathroom on this level as well as a laundry room. Outdoor Space - There is a large patio off the main living room French doors. A gas barbecue is available should you wish to grill as well as a large table and chairs for outdoor dining. The backyard can be accessed from the lower living room or by walking around the side of the house. There is a fire pit and chairs out back for s’mores making. Please note, we do not provide firewood or starters. A large sloped yard in the front of the house can be used for lawn games or just enjoy the view. Seasonal views of Mitchell Hollow Pond across the street. DEP Watershed Hiking - Hike 40 pristine acres of NYC DEP watershed public lands. Mitchell Hollow Pond is located directly across the street and can be accessed from the start of the trail right down the street. Contact us for a map! Guest access Guests will have access to the entire house except for a locked owner's closet and utility room in the basement. Other things to note Wildlife in the Catskills - we are situated in the middle of the most beautiful area of the Catskills and nature abounds! You will likely see wildlife during your stay. You may see deer, turkeys, groundhogs, foxes, etc. Please note that we are in bear country. It is very important to discard of all garbage in the secure bear-proof bin or garbage cans in the garage. All bbq and food items should be brought inside and the bbq scraped clean after use to avoid having unwanted visitors. Bears are generally very timid but they make a terrible mess. The house is regularly treated for pests but being that we are in the country, it would not be unusual to have an insect or mouse make an appearance.
