Welcome to Ounuwhao Harding House, a six bedroom, five bathroom, 1894 Kauri villa which exudes character and charm. It offers superior accomodation opposite picturesque Matauwhi Bay – a favourite mooring-place for yachts. Soak up the beautiful sea views, reserve and bird life from the wrap-around verandas. Ounuwhao is a short two-minute drive or a casual 10-minute level stroll to Russell village. “Experience our historical Residence and enjoy a world of difference”. The space Ounuwhao, Harding House in the beautiful Bay of Islands is perfect accommodation for a Special Occasion, Holidays, Reunions, Wedding Parties. Business Retreats etc. The villa is spacious so plenty of private space for guests. There is a large formal dining room with bar which flows through to the veranda if you would prefer to dine al fresco. This sheltered space has a BBQ and plenty of outdoor tables and chairs with lovely views of the sea and reserve and the perfect place to listen to kiwi in the evening. Sleeping arrangements 6 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms * Upstairs Bedroom (Seatoun Room) 1 King Bed with en-suite shower double sink vanity. Room off bedroom includes Seaview seating area, lounge with sea and reserve views, office/library. Please note if Portiere room is used your en-suite will be shared, It is a Jack and Jill bathroom. * Downstairs Bedroom (Townsend Room) 1 Queen bed with garden and sea view, private en-suite with hand-painted ‘Georgian’ tiles, shower and clawfoot bath. In room washstand and French doors opening onto the verandah and conservatory area. * Downstairs Bedroom (Knight room) 1 Queen bed private bathroom across hallway with shower, clawfoot bath, hand-painted ‘Georgian’ tiles, handbasin. In room washstand and French doors opening onto the verandah and conservatory area. * Downstairs Bedroom (Oxford Room) 1 King bed which can be split into singles. en-suite shower, In room washstand * Downstairs Bedroom (Fergusson Room) 1 Queen bed with private en-suite shower and basin. * Up stairs Bedroom (Portiere Room) 2 single beds. This room shares a Jack and Jill bathroom with Seatoun room. Large North facing room with table chairs. Informal lounge office/library and sea view sitting area is also on this level. Portiere is a curtain door. This allows aircon to flow through the upper level on warm summer nights. Guest access The Main House and section is for you to enjoy. Out the back is the Managers Cottage where I stay part time and is very private from the main house. I will not enter the Main property unless you phone me for any help that you may need. Other things to note This villa suits children 8 years and older. We do allow children to stay but keep in mind the property is not fenced, there are stairs and no safety locks on doors etc, you as the parent/ guardian will know if this is the right place for your needs so you can relax and enjoy your stay. This house was built in 1894 so no double glazing and the windows can rattle a little bit in strong winds....but nothing that a piece of cardboard can’t fix. Look forward to hearing from you.
