Vineyard Quarters at San Gabriel Homestead

Vineyard Quarters is a semi-detached cottage situated on the beautiful historic farm, San Gabriel Homestead, that dates back to 1756. The cottage that was historically part of the slave quarters was later converted to a summer cottage for guests from all over Europe. The cottage is the perfect breakaway for a couple who enjoys the peace and tranquility of farm life, but still centrally located with the Cape Winelands and greater Cape Town right on the doorstep. The space San Gabriel's Vineyard Cottage is part of the heritage of the Cape. The comfortable and spacious room overlooks the rose garden and is equipped with a fireplace and a beautiful writing desk overlooking the wetland. The spacious farmhouse kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to cook a delicious meal. The hallway library is stocked with books left behind by travelers from all over the world. Guest access There are 6 other cottages as well as a Manor House on the farm, all built in the traditional Cape Dutch style. Vineyard Quarters has one en suite bedroom, but can also be connected to Vineyard Family Cottage, the cottage next door, for a larger family. The farm offers open lawns, two pools, a dam, vast vistas of the Helderberg mountain in our backyard, natural habitat with birdlife as well as farm animals. All of this we offer for your enjoyment. Other things to note We can offer a Homestead Continental Breakfast in the Food Studio should you wish to book at an additional charge of R150 per person. Renier also hosts a pizza night every Friday evening that you are welcome to book should you be staying with us over the weekend. Our farmshop is open daily for inhouse guests and is stocked with snacks and beautiful homeware. San Gabriel is a farm and immersed in nature. There will be farm sounds and insects around. There is Peaceful Sleep in your cottage to keep the insects away. Our cottages are old and have creaky floors and little imperfections, but that's what makes them special and it is also the part our guests love the most. To counteract the current power issues in our country we do have a solar system which ensures that the basic amenities in your cottage ie the fridge and room lights work at all times. San Gabriel has wifi. All kitchens stock a basic pantry which includes Coffee, a choice of Teas, Milk, Salt & Pepper. Amenities in our kitchen include a Smeg gas stove with an oven, a fridge and freezer, kettle, microwave, French coffee press and a toaster. The flagship Woolworths Food Store in the Waterstone Mall is a comfortable 6 km from San Gabriel Homestead.
