Luxury Cabin | Rail Trail | Family Friendly

Welcome to Black Walnut Cabin! Our home is a new luxury cabin soaking in nature on 5 acres in Kerhonkson, NY. It has private access to the O&W rail trail. There are two fireplaces, a fire pit, large deck, covered porch, patio, and spacious yard with a swing set (very family friendly!). There are many nearby dining options and things to do - we are three minutes from the town of Accord, five minutes from Inness and Arrowood Farms, and ten minutes from Minnewaska State Park. EV charger included! The space The house is a 3 bed/3 bath modern cabin-style home and brand new build with an additional queen Murphy bed in the finished basement. The vaulted ceiling and two stories of windows in the great room bring light and nature into the space. We also have a piano in the great room that guests are welcome to use. The deck outside the great room faces northwest and offers gorgeous sunset and seasonal mountain views. This is a private home where we spend much of our time so it feels homey while still providing the luxuries of a vacation home. The chef’s kitchen features gorgeous stone countertops, stainless steel appliances, a large range stove and oven with a built-in air fryer, and lots of room for storage and seating. We have ample kitchen staples including a full spice rack. We also offer guests to use our Nespresso machine and provide a variety of complimentary pods. There is seating around the kitchen island, a large formal dining table in the great room, and a dining table on the deck if you’d prefer to eat outside. There is also a Weber gas grill made available to guests on the deck. The first bedroom is on the first floor and is the “kids room” and provides bunk beds (twins) to sleep two. It also has a closet and a dresser. There are two windows, one facing the backyard and one facing southwest. It also has a changing table and lots of books and toys. The second bedroom shares a wall with the first bedroom and features a queen sized bed so also sleeps two. This bedroom has a window facing the backyard. It also has a dresser, closet, and table with additional charging stations for devices. The primary bedroom is on the second floor and is something really special. It provides a king sized bed (sleeps two). It also has an en-suite bathroom with a claw foot standalone bathtub, a gorgeous custom shower, and Toto Washlet toilet seat. This room has a large window which faces the southwest. It also has a walk-in closet and large dresser. There is also a large television in the room. The first floor bathroom has a bathtub, shower, and window facing southeast. We provide shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in all bathrooms and of course have ample towels for all guests. All bathrooms also have built-in heating units so guests will never be cold when they step out of a shower. The finished basement has a large entertainment space and the third bathroom which has a shower, washer & dryer. There is a queen Murphy bed in the basement that sleeps two should anyone want some additional private space. The Murphy bed also has built-in drawers and shelves. There are two doors in the basement which lead out to the covered patio. The doors and window in the basement have curtains so guests staying there will have privacy. Because this is a child-friendly home, we also have a number of toys and books for our guests to use, including an easel with chalkboard on one side and whiteboard on the other with plenty of paper and crayons provided as well. There is also a swing set, changing table, pack and play, high chair, booster seat, and additional items for guests visiting with children. And if something isn't there that you need - just ask. We know what it is like to travel with kids. We have an EV charger that guests are welcome to use in the driveway. Outside, we provide lawn games and toys for kids. We have corn hole, ladder toss, croquet, bocce ball, and ring toss. We also have a fire pit with a solo stove and we provide wood. We have a private path that leads down to the O&W rail trail. If you take a right you will get to Veteran's Park in the Town of Rochester (about 10 minutes walking). There is a pickleball court (we provide paddles and balls at the house) and a large playground. We also have a fire pit that is great for relaxing next to and for toasting marshmallows! Guest access You will need a car to access our property. The driveway can fit four cars. Other things to note Perfect for Kids! We have a large swing set in the front yard and outdoor toys for kids to use. We have private access to the O&W rail trail and if you walk for five minutes you will hit Veterans Park which has a huge playground, tennis and pickleball courts, and basketball. The kids bedroom has bunk beds and is filled with toys! We also have an easel with a chalk board and a white board, plenty of paper and crayons and markers. We also have a changing table, high chair, booster seat, bouncer, and a pack and play at the house for guests to use if they have very small kids. Entertainment & WFH For entertainment, we recommend getting outdoors! The property offers private access to the O&W rail trail. So head down and explore the gorgeous scenic path either on foot or a bicycle. In the case of inclement weather, we also have a large screen tv and entertainment system in the basement, plus a TV upstairs. We also provide board games, books, and puzzles in the loft. For those working instead of playing, we offer high speed internet and number of desks to choose from throughout the house. There is a large desk space in the loft above the great room that seats two. There is also a desk in the finished basement. Fireplaces We do allow guests to use the working fireplaces in the home. There are two. The fireplace in the great room is wood burning and we do provide wood. For those that desire less fuss, the fireplace in the basement is a gas fireplace and can be turned on by a remote. We provide a guide on proper fireplace use and care for all guests. We also have an outdoor fire pit.
