You will not forget your stay at the River Watch Retreat, and will want to tell your friends. This beautiful cabin offers a full NW view of the Carolina Blue Sky and setting sun on ENC's Trent River. Interior is paneled in locally sourced Poplar with Cedar accents. Beadboard and custom ceramic tile compliment the bathroom. Sleeping options: foldout couch downstairs and futon in loft. *Watch Bald Eagles, Geese, Heron and Osprey from 2 elevated decks a stone's throw from the water! The space The main space is 280sq ft and includes the great room, kitchenette and bathroom. A ladder leads to a loft space which is 8' x 14' and has a pitched roof allowing for headroom. Guests are able to view the river through the arched gable window while in bed. A skylight adds to the ambiance. Additional skylight in the the main living area. There are two entrances; (rear) facing the parking area, and front on the river side. There is also an elevated walkway on the left side of the cabin that leads to the front porch and riverside entrance. Guest access Guests park and walk through a Bamboo gate to access the Retreat. There is an outdoor gas grill available next to the "Tiki Hut Bus" (under construction.) Facility has two elevated porch/deck areas on the waterfront. Steps lead from the lower deck down to a private dock. Guests have access to a canoe and a 2 person kayak, or may BYOB i.e. "Boat." Other things to note The first thing people notice is the view and then the stillness; unless it's early spring, in which case the frogs are deafening lol! During summer months there is ample boat traffic but once the sun goes down... Tranquility! If you crack a window at night you are sure to hear Barred Owls calling from the opposite shore, and Heron screeching. Mix that with the daily cries of Osprey and the morning whistling of Bald Eagles and, well, it's pretty amazing (if that's your thing!)
