Description

Follow the forest pathway to our 2 new 'glamping' bunkies. Heron's Landing is set into the hillside beside a spring and is surrounded by natural beauty. Just 1 hr from Pearson and 45 min. to Georgian Bay, Mulmur straddles the Niagara Escarpment, a UNESCO World Biosphere. Our 11 acres borders 400 acres of conservation land in the Pine River Valley including part of the Bruce Trail. We can accomodate families, friends or groups onsite. Not a camper? Please consider our 'in house' listings. The space This is a new bunkie, clean, sanitary, and perfect for social distancing. You can see the other bunkie, but it's far enough away to maintain privacy. We ask that our guests respect the quiet solitude of the forest. Parties and loud behaviour is not allowed. Quiet time is after 11 pm. and before 8 am. Inside there's a table that opens up for four, a futon bed, and a loft bed. All bedding is included. We supply drinking and wash water, as well as sanitizers and soap. Kitchen essentials are included, including some spices, teas, coffee as well as dishes, cutlery and pots and pans. It is well stocked. Basically you just have to bring a cooler, clothing, food and a towel if you plan to use the outdoor shower. There are lights, heat, and two outlets to plug in your phone or laptop. Phone and internet service is spotty. You can walk out to the main house to get service. The bunkie is warmed by a Martin propane wall heater that has a stylish fireplace look. All propane for the BBQ amd heather is provided. There's a BBQ with a side burner, picnic chairs and table outside. There is a fire pit with chairs and some wood, but you might consider bringing a bundle of dry wood. There's also a gazebo with a BBQ in the grounds below. Running water to the shower or outhouse isn't available in the cold months. And although the bunkie is equiped with a propane heater, it's definitely NOT a warm and toasty experience in the deep winter. Be prepared. There is no indoor cooking, candles or incense permitted inside the bunkie. The bathroom is an outhouse off the main pathway. A fancy one, but still NO flush toilet or in cabin facilities. Check out our main house listings for the Pine River Log House if you want something different. Guest access From the parking area in front of the main house, turn left along the front garden and then right to follow the trail up a hill. Through the forest to the first bunkie. Left down the stone stairs. If possible, it's best to arrive before sunset so you can familiarize yourself with the land. Upon arrival, we show you the route and aquaint you with the 'off the grid' system. Other things to note This is a 'walk in' listing. You must carry your food/clothing/cooler from the parking area up an incline and along a forest pathway to the earthen stairs leading to the bunkie. This site is not wheelchair accessible, sorry. There are no facilities to make or store food in the bunkie. The outhouse (quite clean) is shared with the other bunkie and is close. Pathways are solar lit and dependant on the amount of sunlight during the day. Showers and water available seasonally when night time temps do not dip below freezing. Please consider the in house accomodation if 'glamping' isn't your thing.
