The space We are two sisters with childhood roots in Vermont and have returned with our four children and husbands to create this gorgeous family home where we look forward to welcoming other families who want to enjoy the beauty of southern Vermont. This is a large, quiet home on a picturesque hilltop; perfect for a family vacation or peaceful retreat with friends. The activities right at your doorstep are endless in any season! This gorgeous southern Vermont home enjoys amazing views overlooking the surrounding hills, sunsets and sunrises from either side of the house, easy access to skiing, snowmobiling, hiking, swimming and much more. The house is a 25-minute drive from Mt. Snow for skiing. Located on the VAST trails for snowmobiling. There are multiple trails for snowshoeing, cross country skiing and walking in the woods just outside the property. We are also a short drive from the many gorgeous hiking trails of the gorgeous Green Mountain National Forest. In the summer, there are multiple lakes for swimming within a short 15-minute drive. The many wonderful cultural and dining venues of the Berkshires are also nearby. MassMOCA is 40 minute drive. The lovely restaurants and shops of Shelburne Falls are accessible in under 30 minutes. The location offers a wide variety of vacation activities! Inside, you'll find an open and elegant living space featuring hand hewn exposed beam ceilings, burnished floors, and an open fireplace in the central living room. The fully equipped kitchen is spacious and charming, with lustrous cabinetry, a tiled center prep island, and plenty of counter space. A picturesque dining room offers lovely views of the rolling hills from one of two handsome tables, one with seating for four, the other with seating for eight. The large yard and deck makes a great excuse for a day of grilling, family games and endless clean country air. The spacious property offers over 4,500 feet of living space that is both cozy and sprawling, offering many different areas to relax and enjoy. There are seven bedrooms, four full baths, and one half-bath, making it the perfect retreat for large families or multi-family gatherings. On the first floor, two bedrooms each have queen-size beds and one with a twin size day bed and there are three full-size baths accompanying them. The second floor boasts the other four bedrooms: the first bedroom has a queen-size bed, the second has two twins or a king, the third a queen, and the fourth room has a queen-size bed as well. The second floor also has a full-size bathroom as well as a half-bath. Common areas include two dining areas: a spacious living room with working fireplace; a family room with foosball table and stove for warmth; two workspaces with large desks, a quiet sitting area/reading room; and two sets of staircases leading to two separate second floor sleeping areas. Guest access Getting around is easy and beautiful with a car. Snow tires are best in winter but we often manage without. Other things to note This is an antique property which needs to be treated with care. We ask that guests please keep this in mind when booking and be sure that you are looking for a peaceful retreat surrounded by rolling hills and beautiful deep woods. This is not a rental that can accommodate parties or partying.
