If you’re wanting to explore Franschhoek, The Village Cottage is located in the heart of this elegant historic town. Filled with art galleries, shops, boutiques and world class restaurants, Franschhoek is one of the oldest towns in South Africa, founded in 1688 by French Huguenot settlers. Quaint and vibey, it’s situated about a half-hour drive from Stellenbosch and a 45-minute drive from Cape Town. You’ll find it well worth the trip! The space The Village Cottage is the perfect place to call home after you’ve spent a day sampling delicious wine at one of the nearby estates or strolling the main stretch (just around the corner) with a shopping bag or two. Unwind in pure, blissful comfort – no detail was too small in ensuring that you have a luxurious and memorable stay. We hope you’ll make yourself right at home in our open-plan, air-conditioned kitchen and stylish lounge area. For cosy nights in, make use of the fireplace or television. Make your way upstairs and you’re in for a treat! Both bedrooms are equipped with aircon for those hot summer days. You’ll find it hard to leave the plush, king-sized bed in the main bedroom, which has a spacious dressing table and modern en suite bathroom (make time for a soak in the free-standing bathtub!). Bringing your laptop? Catch up on a few emails at the convenient work space on the upstairs landing. Our comfy second bedroom also has an en suite bathroom. If you’re craving fresh air, the townhouse features an outdoor sitting area where you can enjoy a braai (barbecue) with friends in the sunshine. Top-notch, stable Wi-Fi will help you stay calm and connected. Your car is safe and secure in our garage with direct access to the townhouse. Should loadshedding (a power outage) occur, rest easy – there’s an inverter and back-up battery system that will kick in automatically to keep the lights up and running. There is additional parking for another car in the complex. Franschhoek, Afrikaans for ‘French corner’, is nothing short of idyllic, with balmy summers and, more often than not, gorgeous snow-capped mountain peaks in winter. The town and surrounds will keep you captivated, so go on – extend your stay and make the most of this Western Cape gem! Hop on the world-famous Franschhoek Wine Tram.
