Description

A stylish and newly renovated house, full of light and calm, with stunning views of the Seine and the surrounding lakes and forests. Set in a rural village in the heart of the french countryside and a short car ride to conveniences and train station. 45 minutes from Paris and just over an hour to the coast. Explore nearby Giverny where Monet and the impressionists painted the luminous landscape. A great base to visit Paris, Rouen, Chartres and Normandy and the WWII sites. The space The thoughtful renovation mixes the house's original simple charm with gentle modern flourishes. Downstairs a light-filled salon with open fireplace is adjacent to a separate and focused reading room. Both have wonderful views of the Seine. As does a warm bedroom with ensuite bathroom and italian style power shower. A spacious kitchen mixes modern and rustic, with new induction stovetop, dual oven and dishwasher. Up the winding wooden stairs bedroom two has the same southern facing aspect as the downstairs rooms and across the landing a gorgeous bathroom with velux. On the landing are the washing machine and dryer. From the Salon you can walk onto a small terrace and patio to enjoy outdoor meals and watch the barges and cruisers go slowly by on the river below. The lower garden is currently not accessible to guests but we think you'll have enough space and greenery on the terraces! Guest access Entire House is accessible to guests, apart from the lower garden area. Across the street you have the option of garage or on-street parking for one car. Let us know if you'd like the key to the garage. Other things to note The house has a library with a private collection of books by and about Samuel Beckett that guests are welcome to read but they are strictly to remain in the house. There are a number of unique pieces of furniture and original framed artworks. There are 3 original photographs by John Minihan. 1 original photograph by Jane Bown. 1 original conté drawing by Tom Ryan. 1 original painting by Tullio Pericoli. 5 original printworks by Morgan Doyle. There is a renovated 3 seater couch. There is a handmade tapestry wall hanging. We ask that food is kept out of the bedrooms and reading room. Don't hesitate to ask about anything you don't understand how to use.
