The space Welcome to your lakefront escape — two full homes on Big Stone Lake, perfect for multi-family getaways, reunions, and year-round retreats. The main house and private guest house sleep up to 16 comfortably, each with its own kitchen, bathroom, and living space for added privacy. Enjoy beautiful sunset views and lake access for fishing, boating, kayaking, swimming, or relaxing by the firepit at night. Located in Ortonville, MN, this 26-mile lake is known for its trophy walleye and has been featured on Midwest fishing shows. Just 2 hours from Sioux Falls or Fargo and 3 hours from the Twin Cities, it’s a convenient and quiet getaway with full recreation all summer and excellent ice fishing in the winter. Guests need to be able to climb stairs down to the cabin and again down to the lake. Groceries, restaurants, shopping, golf course, hospital and gas station are all within a mile of the cabin. Other things to note Here are some house rules for your stay... NO SMOKING There is no smoking allowed in the main house or guest cottage. Please dispose of cigarette butts. NO PARTIES OR UNREGISTERED GUESTS Please respect our neighbors. No parties and please keep music at a respectful level. NO FOOD ON FURNITURE Please keep food at the dining tables throughout the property. SHOES Please leave your shoes in the mudroom in the main cabin, and on the rug in the guest cottage. THERMOSTAT We have geothermal heating and cooling, which is best to leave at a consistent temperature. Turning it up or down to save money is inefficient, so it is best to Set It and Forget It. NO FIREWORKS Anything that flies or explodes is prohibited. GARBAGE Please bag all garbage and place in the Waste Management bins in our parking space near the road. NO TENTS or RV’s The use of recreational vehicles and/or tents is prohibited. LILY PAD, BOARDS AND BOATS Please secure the lily pad, paddle board and kayaks to the dock when not in use, and bring kayaks and paddle board out of the water in the evenings and at the end of your stay. DAMAGES/BREAKAGES Please report any damages or breakages in a timely manner. We expect guests to pay for repairs or replacements to items that are damaged during their stay. PETS We allow 2 dogs for an additional cleaning fee of $150.00 (no cats - allergies). Dogs are not allowed on furniture or beds. Property is not fenced in, so it is your responsibility to ensure your dog stays within property lines. We provide a tie-out cable outside as well as dog dishes. Please scoop the poop, and place in garbage bin.
