Description
The Nook is a cosy detached 2 bedroom (3 beds) cottage built originally in the 19th Century as the village shoemaker's cottage. We offer our cosy home from home for all of our guests - dogs included! We’re honoured to have been given superhost status - and we strive to offer you great service and a lovely place to spend your holiday. We’re located in the quiet, rural, picturesque Peak District village of Taddington - perfectly situated halfway between the popular towns of Bakewell & Buxton The space The Nook is jointly hosted by our family, Trev, Jo, Lily & Alex. You might receive messages or responses from any of us. Please feel free to message us with any questions you might have and we will respond as soon as we can. We look forward to welcoming you! The Nook is a detached limestone built 19th Century cottage, originally built as a cottage for the village shoe-maker. The cottage is set back slightly from the main road, giving the property a more private feel. There is a driveway for one small car and plenty of free on-street parking. We have undertaken extensive interior renovations throughout early 2023 on The Nook to help make our cottage feel more cosy and to be more efficient. Smart Philips ‘Wiz’ lighting is included throughout main areas of the house – allowing you to set the mood with coloured & dimmable lights if you so choose. The ground floor consists of an entrance porch, with shoe storage. The living room has a bay window with a lovely window seat - the perfect place to relax with a cuppa and a good book whilst watching the world go by. The window overlooks the front garden and main street through Taddington. The living room also has a feature fireplace with a modern efficient wood burning stove. Limestone tiled flooring throughout the ground floor with the benefit of thermostat controlled electric underfloor heating for those cooler nights - and we’re sure those 4 legged friends will love it too! There is a 3 seater sofa, armchair and an occasional chair for relaxing on. Also in the living room, a TV with access to live channels, and also Netflix, BBC iPlayer etc by way of an Amazon Fire TV stick. (please use your own accounts - don't forget to log back out after use.) Through the living room, you’ll find a fully equipped kitchen-diner including an extendable solid oak dining table with 4 chairs. The kitchen leads out to the private rear fully enclosed courtyard garden with flowerbeds, and a raised patio seating area perfect for enjoying a barbecue and drink with family or friends on relaxed summer evenings. We have an electric ‘Ninja wood-fire’ Smoker Barbecue for you to use outside – perfect for perfectly grilled summer feasts. Also included in the kitchen is a Ninja dual drawer air fryer, and a Tassimo coffee pod machine. We've got Alexa devices in the house for you to listen to music, radio or the latest news. If you don't want to use them - it's fine, just unplug them for your stay. Throughout the upstairs, the property benefits from the latest in electric heating technology – Infrared heating panels - each controlled by their own individual thermostats - they are a new efficient way of heating homes. The heat the panels produce feels like the sun’s warmth on your skin. The main bedroom consists of a king-size bed, full height wardrobe, chest of drawers, TV (with Amazon Fire TV stick and associated apps - unfortunately no Live TV available upstairs), dressing table and scenic views overlooking Taddington and the hills beyond. The bathroom is recently extensively renovated, including a walk-in Grohe rainfall shower, heated infrared towel rail and underfloor heating. The second bedroom at the rear of the property can be made up into either twin beds, or a double bed - please specify your preference upon booking. It also includes a TV (with Amazon Fire TV stick and associated apps - unfortunately no Live TV available upstairs). We really hope you'll choose The Nook for your stay in the Peak District. Guest access Guests have private use of the entire cottage and garden. Other things to note Access to the bedrooms & bathroom is via a staircase. Garden is fully enclosed and has flowerbeds around the side - we’re happy for your dogs to do any business there (please clean up after). There are also a selection of large open fields a 5 minute walk away for you to take your dogs to do their business on grass if they’re a bit fussier!
