Description
Take it easy at this unique and cosy cottage with a real open fire and original beams. The cottage was constructed in approximately 1750 during the reign of George II. The cottage is constructed from wood and stone and there is not a straight wall, ceiling or door casing in the house! You learn very fast (after banging your head once or twice) to duck under the low door frames and beams. The cottage is small, quirky and very cosy but with a suprisingly large master bedroom and bathroom. The space Entry is through the front door which leads directly into the lounge area. The lounge comprises of a comfy three seat sofa and a leather chair. Here you will see the large open fireplace and stone hearth. There is a modern 42" Smart TV with WI-FI and SKY. Subtle lighting has been provided to enhance the cosiness of this space. The lounge leads into the dining area. Here you will find seating for four people around a large, round solid Oak table. The dining area leads into the kitchen which has all new appliances (fridge, microwave, slow cooker, kettle, toaster, sink and hob) and has been freshly tiled and decorated in February. The home is heated by a combination boiler attached to a thermostat. There is a rear door in the kitchen which leads out onto the spacious garden and also the side access room. In the side access room you will find a laundry room, pantry and storage area for bikes, luggage etc. Upstairs: From the lounge area you will find a small flight of stairs which leads you directly into the master bedroom. Please note there is no landing area so access to the second bedroom and the bathroom is through the master bedroom. The master bedroom sports a king size bed, modern double wardrobe with bi-fold doors and a cute dressing table with a mirror. The bed is flanked by a pair of bed side tables each with a dimmable lamp. The master bedroom also reveals its original beams during its construction in 1750. From the master bedroom you will need to duck through the quirky, crooked doorway and into the smaller second bedroom. Here you will find a daybed suitable for a small adult or medium sized child. The bedroom is simple and functional and also reveals some of its originality from days gone by. From the second bedroom you enter the suprisingly large bathroom with high ceiling. The bathroom has a 'over the bath' shower, toilet, sink and vanity unit. There are twin radiators to keep you warm and a expelair extractor fan to keep the room steam and odour free. Outside: The garden comprises of two patios and a decked area for entertaining. During the spring and summer months we provide outdoor furniture so seating can be set up for up to 12 people and a BBQ and fire pit will be provided for outdoor dining. The garden is private, spacious and very peaceful as it backs directly onto the graveyard. We try to encourage as much wildlife as possible with the construction of our quirky wildlife fence. Our cottage is unique in many ways with not a straight wall in sight. If you are very tall or suffer from a sore neck, then this may not be the right home for you, but if you have a penchant for quirky, traditional spaces with lots of character then book now! We are sure you will not be disappointed. Guest access You will have access to the whole house. Other things to note The cottage is over 250 years old so there are so quite low beams to navigate.
