The Chatterson Historic Eau Claire Home
This historic home is within a mile of Downtown Eau Claire's shops, restaurants, and bars. It's also a 10 minute drive from the music festival grounds (Eaux Claires, Blue Ox, Country Jam) and a 5 minute drive from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. With it's contemporary decor, a brand new kitchen and plenty of space, this house is full of character and amenities. This property has a long history and we were determined to keep that history while updating towards a more modern, welcoming look. Constructed in 1891 during the waning years of logging in Eau Claire, the David P. Graves house features a gable front and wing façade and wood frame, characteristic of Folk Victorian architecture. The house maintains its original wood siding and windows, as well as original decorative gable trim featured on the front two gables. With updated amenities guests will feel right at home. During the summer guests can enjoy a beautiful three seasons patio and short walks to local parks. Guests have access to the first floor of the house. The upstairs is rented out separately. Situated four blocks north of Randall Park, the David P. Graves House was constructed in 1891 for David Porter Graves, a pioneer of the City of Eau Claire and wealthy lumberman. Located just outside of the current boundaries of the Randall Park Historic District, the house stands among other houses of more modest construction and is indicative of economic and social trends of late 19th century Eau Claire. As a logging boomtown, wealthy lumbermen and entrepreneurs of early Eau Claire clustered near Randall Park, while those of more modest means tended to reside closer to Half Moon Lake and in the blocks north of Water Street. Uber and Lyft both operate in Eau Claire. There is also bus service.
