The accommodation comprises 1 master bedroom with ensuite bathroom (with bath and shower), 2 double bedrooms and 1 twin bedroom. In addition to the ensuite, there are an additional 2 bathrooms (1 with bath and shower and 1 with shower only). There is an open-plan reception/dining room (dining table seats 8 ) , a sitting room (both rooms with open fireplaces ) and a fully equipped kitchen with a table that seats 6. The outside areas include a patio with a dining table seating up to 12 guests. THE AREA Upper Lambourn is a small hamlet set in an area of outstanding natural beauty. In close vicinity to a number of local shops including a butcher, supermarket, and a Post Office in the village. Uplands House is 1 mile from the Jockey Club Gallops where you can watch racehorses in action. It is an hour’s drive from a number of racecourses including Ascot, Bath, Cheltenham, Newbury, Kempton and Windsor. Uplands House is situated 9.5 miles from the historic market town of Hungerford with its celebrated antique shops and a train station. Trains go to London Paddington every hour, direct trains are a 50 min journey. The larger towns of Marlborough and Newbury are both only 15 miles away, which offers a wider range of everyday shopping facilities , they both have a Waitrose . Newbury has a train station serving London Paddington with direct trains every hour (50 min journey), Heathrow Airport is just 1 hour’s drive. Marlborough is also only 25 mins away by car. THINGS TO DO The immediate area is well known for its outstanding countryside with an excellent network of bridle paths and footpaths including the famous Ridgeway, which is a 4-mile walk from the house across the Downs. The Uffington Whitehorse and Dragon Hill are within hiking distance. There are a number of excellent pubs in the area offering great food and drinks, including Helen Browning's Royal Oak in Bishopstone. Other nearby attractions and activities include the Avebury Stone Circle, Highclere Castle (where Downton Abbey was filmed), the Watermill Theatre, Ashdown House - a National Trust Property, Barbury Shooting Ground and barging on the Kennet & Avon Canal. Guest access Check-in is flexible and can be negotiated on request. Check-out must be no later than 6pm Other things to note ADDITIONAL COSTS - Housekeeping can be provided with prior arrangement . Rate is £20 per hour . - Catering can be provided by our Catering manager with prior notice . She is available to fill the fridge / deep freeze or cater for dinner parties or Sunday lunch . Her rate is £25 per hour . - Personal Car Service: we have access to a professional driver who you can hire on an hourly or daily rate for airport pick-ups or day trips.
