Craftsman Cottage-45 minutes to Snowshoe

A century-old home in the small town of Durbin WV, the Craftsman Cottage is fully renovated with authentic bourbon barrel staves and stylish features throughout. You'll find the location of our house to be the perfect launchpad for every adventure around. Pocahontas County is well known for its hiking, biking, skiing, fishing, kayaking, history, train rides, and more. The space The Craftsman Cottage is built upon a stacked stone foundation dating back to 1900. In 2021, we completely renovated it, and added extra rooms and amenities. With a front porch and rear patio, you'll have plenty of places to enjoy the clean mountain air and seasonably cool summer weather. Inside, we've used genuine bourbon barrel staves as accent pieces, used them to make furniture, and a custom head board. We've stocked our kitchen with all major appliances, and an assortment of pots/pans/utensils, plates/cups/mugs, etc. A drip coffee maker, K-cup, and coffee bean grinder will make sure your mornings start off right. You'll also find spices, cooking oil and spray. Our kitchen features a handmade black walnut countertop. Please don't cut on it, and please dry any spills immediately. Our bathrooms are stocked with bath towels and washcloths. You'll find just a few shower essentials in the upper cabinet if you forget yours, but we suggest bringing your own body soap and shampoo supplies. In the Spring, we'll supply a fillet table for outdoor fish processing. Guest access Entire house, front porch, and back patio. A locked storage room is attached to the house for our mower and maintenance supplies. Other things to note Please move the charcoal grill off the back patio, and into the edge of the grass when using; to avoid grease spills and smoke against the white ceiling. It was pretty challenging to install a new furnace/AC unit into the old part of the house. As such, its a bit loud when running. But the TV sound bar easily overpowers it.
