Jetuka - Private Room in Villa - Xaru Konwari

Centrally located in historic Sibsagar town on the banks of the Dikhow river, Jetuka is a traditional Assamese-style villa. Renovated in 2022, this property has been part of our family for the last 200 years. We are excited to welcome you to our personal heritage and to the heritage of Assam. You can leave the traffic behind and expect to wake up to bird song. We hope you will enjoy having a cup of tea in the fresh air, taking in the sights and sounds of Sibsagar. The space Don’t let the name fool you, the “Xaru Konwari” room is very spacious! It is a private room with an ensuite bathroom. It has the charm of old Assamese living with modern amenities to give you the best of both worlds during your stay. The room has a queen-sized bed, along with two nightstands. There is a free-standing wardrobe to keep your valuables and hang up clothes. It feels much more like home when you don’t have to live from a suitcase! If you prefer to do some reading before bed, we also have a table and chair with a footrest to help you unwind. This room has both fan and air conditioning. The bathroom features a large walk-in shower with a high-pressure pump. There is also a western-style toilet, and a vanity for your wash kit. This room has a door to the adjoining room, which has two single beds, making it a great room to book for families or friends who wish to travel together. For your security and comfort, the door between the rooms will remain locked from both sides throughout your stay unless you book both spaces. Guest access In addition to your own bedroom to retreat to at the end of the day, you will have access to the shared kitchen, and the veranda that looks out onto the lawn and fruiting trees. The kitchen has the essentials that you would need to create and enjoy a meal. You will find basic cooking implements, as well as a refrigerator, gas hob/burners, a microwave, as well as a reverse osmosis drinking water filter. There is a quartz-top dining table so you can gather for your meal and hopefully enjoy tasting all of the great food Assam has to offer! Additionally, if you wish to spend time outside, you can take advantage of our expansive yard with fruiting trees and a traditional Assamese fishery pond called a phukuri. Get transported into a peaceful oasis that welcomes friends and family alike, as it has been doing for over 200 years of its history. Other things to note There is limited parking on-site. The home is accessed via a ramp, and dependent on individual circumstances, could be suitable for some wheelchair users. There is no smoking inside the rooms of the home.
