Øvre Brekkebakkadn
Description
Our sweet little home is almost finished and we want to share this unbelievable place with you. We are renovating this old farm and in July 2021 we moved in. For those who are Scandinavian, you might have seen the process on TV. You can google Øvre Brekkebakkadn. It is a simple but cozy and comfortable place. We live close to Jotunheimen national park and the landscapes are beutiful everywhere you go! The space This farm is from around 1900, and this place can give you insight how it was to live on small farms. It is better insulated than it was before,so don't worry about being cold. We mostly keep warm with our fireplace but we also have an electronic heat pump and panel ovens in the two rooms. This is a work in progress house and everything here is not finished. Things take time when you have small children and jobs to do. So some of the cupboards in the kitchen do not have kitchen doors yet. And also the bathroom is very simple (has floor heating though) but the water has a funny taste in there so you have to let it run for some time if you want to drink that. But besides that our water from the spring is absolutely fantastic water from the mountain below us. The house consist of hallway with room for jackets shoes etc. and a washing machine. Next to here is the bathroom. Then you enter the main room which consist of both kitchen and living room in one. Here we have couch which you can make into a bed. Also possible to put a madress on the floor, children bed or whatever. In general you can move the things where you want. We have a small fridge up but then we have cellar under the floor where in winter time it is pretty cold. Here is also the freezer. One room is the childrens' room where there now is a bed for a four year old. Possible to put in an adult bed or also a smaller bed for a child. The second room is where the double bed is (2x90cm). We are about 30min away from Jotunheimen and close to our farm you can find Syndin. Many possibilities to sledd around here because we live on a steep hill (winter time only of course). Guest access The whole house. 52 square meters. And all the nature around you. We own 7 hectar of the forrest around us. In summer time the road is easily accesible for most cars. But in winter time it can be challegning to drive all the way up if you don't have 4x4. But let us know when you book and we can answer where you can park the car. Most likely you have to walk 250-300 meters.
