Mod Lodge: Scandi-inspired forest retreat/hottub

If you need to get away our Scandinavian inspired lodge is for you. Nestled in the trees next to Nat’l Forest at the base of Chautauqua Mt with miles of trails along the Front Range - yet still close to the quaint town of Palmer Lake with easy access to I-25- Mod Lodge Palmer Lake is a brand-new 490 sqft lodge just waiting to host you. Soak in the private hottub after trailtime/yoga then enjoy wine (or s’mores) by the gas fire pit before curling up in the comfy king sized bed w/ organic bedding. The space Mod Lodge Palmer Lake is a privately accessed 490 sq. ft. lodge. The cozy space is a locked off one bedroom/one bath/kitchenette (small bar sized fridge/microwave -no stove) apartment attached to our Scandinavian inspired home (finished in Fall 2022). You will likely not see us as our accommodations are on the other side of the house and as experienced hosts, we are here only if you want or need us. By staying in the lodge, you have full, private access to a sparkling new hot tub, natural gas fire pit and both a covered and uncovered outdoor area so you can soak in the views. There are no shared spaces here- your area is completely yours. Our little spot is accessed by a dirt road (often with deer crossing) which dead ends at the trail head (which leads to hundreds of trails for hiking, mountain biking and running along the Front Range) and is nestled beside National Forest tucked under both Raspberry and Chautauqua Mountains. It’s very quiet back here! And the star gazing is unbelievable due to the darkness. If you do want to leave, the historic quaint tiny town of Palmer Lake- with 5 restaurants- is only 1.3 miles away- and easily accessed by I25- and Monument for groceries/gas is 3 miles. There are even pickleball or tennis courts right down the dirt road. (We are definitely off the beaten path and it will feel remote). The Denver airport is approximately an hour’s drive to the north and the Colorado Springs’ airport is approximately 45 min. to the south. The elevation is 7,300’ so winters can be snowy -an AWD is recommended! Most of our neighborhood is accessed by dirt roads. Come prepared to enjoy the great outdoors as no matter the season, the trails bring amazing beauty and wildlife. Please note the forest was full of little critters and insects before we moved in and they will remain long after we leave. For this reason you may encounter a bug or two depending on the season and recent rains. Palmer lake STR license #0953022 Guest access Guests have access to the private apartment and outdoor - both covered and uncovered patio areas on the lower level only- as well as the hot tub and fire pit. Guests have one designated parking place (unless one more is necessary and can be requested). Other things to note Please note- The lodge is accessed by both a stone pathway and flight of steps so you will have to carry your luggage (won’t be able to pull a suitcase with wheels). We are happy to help carry luggage if we are home- just ask! There is a dual security camera/motion detector light pointed at the steps/parking area to ensure lighting for guests at night. The camera does not show the lodge’s entrance door, patio, hot tub or ANY portion of the lodge’s living area. The camera/light can be easily deactivated by the guests with a designated light switch in the unit. Hot water can take some time to heat up but once it is hot- it is endless! The lodge is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible due to the entry. Dirt roads with limited to no lighting must be traveled to find Mod Lodge Palmer Lake. Further, the winters can be snowy due to the elevation of 7,300’. A 4wheel drive vehicle is ideal during winter conditions. Please watch the weather and plan accordingly. Pets are not allowed. We do have a dog onsite but kept away from guests. Location is not ideal for young children. Smoking indoors is not permitted and EXTREME caution must be taken outdoors due to high fire danger in the forest. Mod Lodge Palmer Lake is truly mountain living- you will likely see deer, fox, turkeys and maybe even more! There could be encounters with wildlife so guests should take precautions. As noted, in the forest there can be insects despite best attempts. Mod Lodge Palmer Lake is a separate privately accessed apartment - but is attached to our home. We do live here so you may once and awhile hear us but we will stay out of your way! Also, we do have one very friendly puppy.
