The cottage has been featured in books, newspapers, and tours of homes. In 2023 scenes from a movie were shot there. The cottage has a rich history and has been immaculately restored. The interior is decorated in a relaxing, contemporary style. A private courtyard beckons out back. Guests love the cottage!!! The space Camellia Cottage is a registered historic home centrally located in the historic district of Fredericksburg, VA (FXBG). The dinning space and living room are in one large room and features numerous windows, a smart TV, and a gas fireplace (available in colder weather). French doors beckon you to go outside to the courtyard, where you can enjoy an evening glass of wine/water or dinner. The kitchen features modern appliances, all your needs to cook and dine, and a sunny breakfast dining nook. A large room upstairs includes a sofa (turns into a comfy sleeper bed and actual beds are available upon request), a library, and a sitting area to read and reflect in front of one of 4 fireplaces in the house. A bedroom upstairs has a queen sized bed and is located in a quiet corner of the house. FIOS high speed, wireless internet is available throughout the property. Guest access All parts of the property are available to guests. Parking is available on the street in front of the cottage all day, and at no charge. Most everything you need is in a short walk from the Cottage, including: tourist attractions, nature, coffee shops and countless restaurants, a farmer's market, and a grocery store. Other things to note The Cottage is located minutes from local tourist attractions such as George Washington’s boyhood home, major Civil War battlefields, and other colonial era sites. Fredericksburg (motto: America’s Most Historic City) is the ideal location to stay to explore its treasures – and to take day trips by car or train to Washington, DC (54 miles/88 km), Richmond (60 miles/ 96km) Williamsburg/Jamestown (103 miles/165km), and other VA attractions (Shenandoah National Park, Mount Vernon, Monticello, wineries and more). Stay in one amazing historic place, and see it all or just chill out here! FXBG was named one of the best small towns in America. With countless historical attractions (from Revolutionary War to Civil War, and much more) proximity to DC and VA, outdoor adventures, and coffee shops and restaurants galore, what is not to like? Located on a lot owned by Revolutionary War hero, General Hugh Mercer, the cottage has been immaculately restored to feature modern amenities. During Prohibition, the cottage was a prominent local speakeasy. relaxing, contemporary style. The Cottage was featured on the FXBG 2015 and 2020 Candlelight tour of homes. In 2021, the cottage celebrated her 150th birthday with a big bash. In 2023 scene from a movie were shot at the cottage.
