The space For three years, we traveled throughout Brazil doing volunteer work, learning about bioconstruction and permaculture, and looking for a place where we really felt at home. When we arrived on the north coast of São Paulo, one visit was enough to know: Maresias was our place. The moment we entered this condominium surrounded by the Atlantic Forest, the connection was immediate. It was there that we would build our home — with respect for nature, the community, and what we believe in. We preserved the original vegetation of the land as much as possible. We opted for ecological bricks, which do not undergo a burning process, which reduces the environmental impact and adapts well to the humid climate of the region. In addition, we have adopted sustainable solutions for the entire sanitation system: Gray water (sinks and showers) is directed to a circle of banana trees, where it is naturally filtered by the plants. Toilet water goes to an ETB (evapotranspiration basin) — a biodigestion system that returns waste to the land without contaminating the soil or water. Everything was designed so that our presence here would not impact the local ecosystem, but add to it. Today, we have the joy of sharing this space with people who value the silence of the forest, the sound of birds, and simplicity with conscience. We hope you feel at home too.
