Description

This Wakulla River Waterfront home is a nature lover's paradise. The Wakulla River is a year-round home to manatees, otters, gators, turtles, and waterfowl, and is only steps away from the private dock, where you can bird-watch, read a book, or nap on the porch swing. Grab a kayak and explore these clear mystical waters at your leisure. While the homeowners live in this home 9 months of the year, it is offered for short periods of time to those lucky enough to snap it up a few weeks each year. The space Nestled on a narrow 2-acre wooded lot in a small, quiet, gated neighborhood, this 2200 sq ft home offers 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths, plus a private outdoor shower. Large covered porches and decks envelop the home and offer a plethora of places to relax and kick back. And though on weekends during the summer months, the river can get pretty busy with boaters and swimmers, the mornings and evenings you will have the river to yourself from the privacy of the dock. Grab a kayak and paddle out during sunrise or sunset to float these refreshing mystical waters. Or bring your binoculars and be on the lookout for wildlife from the comfort of the porch swing on the dock. From time to time, you will see manatees, otters, Bald Eagles and Osprey, Suwannee Cooter turtles, and a myriad of other birds as well as boaters who cruise the river. Swim the refreshing waters right in front of the dock. When the tide is going out, the river is swift, and swimming in place makes for great exercise! While in the area, visit one of several parks that are just a quick 10-15 minute drive. Visit the Wakulla River spring-head in Wakulla Springs State Park, the 2nd largest of its kind in the world. Travel back in time on waters used in Tarzan and Creature of the Black Lagoon films. Have lunch or dinner in the lodge or enjoy an ice cream float or a milkshake at the ice cream bar in the lodge gift shop after venturing out on one of the hour-long boat tours that are offered within the park. Hike, bike, or drive through the St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge to witness the untamed Florida landscape as it was before the sprawl of urban development forever changed much of this beautiful state. Finally make a day of it at the beach if squeezing your toes in the sand makes for a perfect day for you- Alligator Point is just a 30-minute drive from this waterfront home, or visit Apalachicola and St. George Island, just an hour and a half drive! Whatever your idea of paradise, this part of Florida offers something for everyone! A quick note: This small, private, quiet neighborhood is gated and houses only a handful of families, many of whom are retired. This home is not conducive for parties or events, and should not be booked by young adults looking to party. This home is perfect for couples and small families who want a peaceful vacation spot in a beautiful area of north Florida and who want to enjoy outdoor recreation on the Wakulla River, a truly unique natural resource. Guest access The keypad on the front door will be coded to the last 4 digits of the primary guest's phone number.
