We are excited or you to stay at what we commonly call this property " The Lakehouse". Though technically, the body of water that surrounds the property is actually a natural wild life reserve and drinking reservoir for the folks who live in Newport News. You can find tons of great information about all of the wild life, fishing, boating and history about the water on the Diascund Creek Resevoir's website. It's breathtakingly beautiful . The property is also conveniently located to all of the best that Historic Williamsburg has to offer! The original owner, Mr. Walls who owned an immense amount of land surrounding the area, a jack of all trades as folks call him, frequently welcomed the community to come and enjoy his property, mostly for fishing and then later years to gather pecans from the trees. Local visitors who frequent the property today tell great stories of him. We feel absolutely blessed and connected to the idea of sharing our property with the community as he did. That idea was our original intention before we had even learned of him. We bought the property and in less than a year, got married on it under the pecan trees overlooking the water. The home is a 3 bedroom 1 bath brick ranch that was built in the 50's. The primary bedroom has a super comfortable king sized bed with dressers and night stands. Another room has 2 twin beds, which could slide together to create another king bed. And a full bed that shares space with the laundry. The living room is spacious and there is a cozy kitchen with an eat -in dining table. We will soon be installing a designated work space, desk and printer available. This property is breathtakingly beautiful. With 5 acres next to a natural wild life preserve and on the water, You're absolutely going to see tons of incredible animals; everything from Bald Eagles, Deer, Fish, Wild Turkeys, Lizards, Mice, Rabbits, Turtles, Frogs Etc. We encourage to please shut the doors immediately behind you so nothing sneaks in behind you. We have a paddleboat for your use. Various sizes of life vests and water muck boots available, but we encourage you to bring any good boots for water and to walk about the property. You're welcome to fish in the water! However, the Diascund Creek Resevoir rules include needing a fishing license. You can obtain one online. We are providing a stainless steel fish cleaning station behind the garage. Please bring your own fishing equipment and tools. Be sure to enjoy the firepit we have out back! We have a few chairs for you to use, but they're limited, so we encourage you to bring extras if needed. There is a water hose for you to extend to the fire located behind the house and usually plenty of wood that can be used, too. If there isn't any wood, many of the local stores sell bundles of firewood. Please be sure to read rules, city regulations and safety guide prior to starting a fire. Our family frequently stays at the property ourselves and love it! We have built some great memories here. We've learned how to fish, planned an entire entry level camping trip in the back of the property, made smores over the fire, had a wedding and soon to have a family reunion! Some of my fondest moments is waking up in the morning and walking under the pecan trees and the land that borders the lake with a cup of coffee, along side my husband while our dog rips and runs free through the land. We are actively collecting games to stock the house for your enjoyment along many other items our guests could enjoy. If there is something of request, please let us know and we will do our very best to accommodate. Otherwise, you should have all of the basics of what you need at the home, including linens, extra blankets, heaters, ac units, fans, cleaning supplies, dishes, pots, pans, shampoo, conditioner, towels, etc. We are excited for you to come stay at the property! You'll have access to the entire property during your stay. However, access to the water comes with rules and regulations set forth by the Diascund Creek Resevoir. Waterfront property located on the Diascund filled with tons of natural wild life and on a reservoir. Just 15 minutes-30 Minutes outside of Williamsburg's greatest attractions. Nearest shopping is Lightfoot. We recommend using your gps to navigate the area, though it's really easy to get in and out. You should have great cell service no matter the carrier. You'll only be about 10-15 minutes from your nearest grocery store, restaurants and shopping. Historic Williamsburg and all things offered are within 20-30 minutes. There is plenty of parking on the 5 acre property.
