Enjoy star gazing, high desert views in this small hand hewn cabin, a unique overnight stay. We are located in REMOTE Southeastern Oregon, the cabin is on the premises of Steens Mountain Guest Ranch. A Wi-Fi repeater is available in the cabin (if the weather is stormy the Wi-Fi can be spotty). Phone service and shopping areas getting here are few & far between. This is rural living. Enjoy the quietness of the country and a beautiful sage brush view. Friendly reminder: no pets in cabin. The space The cowboy cabin was hand milled and built by the O’Crowley family. It has one common room with a queen bed, a twin bunk bed, and a small loft with a twin mattress bed. A small kitchenette area and a bathroom. Your cabin is located at steens mountain guest ranch ( where Tim & Susan O’Crowley(my in laws) live and work). It’s a working ranch. You may see Tim out feeding the horses or working with a colt in the arena. Please be respectful of their property. You are welcome to walk down the road, hike up to the rim ( at your own discretion) look at ( or feed ) the horses in the corrals. They love carrots. If you are interested in going on a trail ride please feel free to contact steens mountain guest ranch prior to your stay. Guest access Their cabin Other things to note Diamond Oregon, where your abnb is located is remote and is 60 miles from a grocery store and 40 miles from a gas station . Burns is the closest place to get groceries. Please plan accordingly for your stay. Spring is a great time of year for birding. June & July is a great time to explore Steens Mountain or view the Kiger mustangs. There are plenty of mosquitoes in Diamond that time of year- so bring your bug spray. August & September bring less bugs and beautiful sunsets.
