Cider House Orchard Stay

Welcome to The Cider House at Showalter’s Orchard! This renovated wash house is now a bright, cozy retreat just steps from our apple trees. Located across the drive from our farmhouse on our working family farm, it offers its own private yard and outdoor space. You’ll enjoy a peaceful getaway with plenty of privacy, while knowing we’re nearby if you need anything during your stay The space The cider house is a separate outbuilding fashioned from the farm's original wash house. The cottage is light and airy with clerestory windows. Its views are exceptionally suited to take in the vistas in each direction of apple trees as far as you can see to the west and of the Shenandoah Valley to the East. Just a few steps from the doorstep you'll be standing in the oldest part of our orchard. Enjoy exploring the rows and rows of trees. If you are visiting during apple or peach harvest season, we offer pick your own apples and peaches. Your ciderhouse kitchen is ready with everything you need to prepare your meals or even better to make your apple or peach pie with fruit that you just picked. You'll find our favorite recipe for apple pie on the kitchen counter. If your visit happens to be when the bounty of the vegetable garden is ready, please help yourself. It too is right outside your door. This peaceful and private place is also perfect to relax and rejuvenate and watch your favorite Roku programming or take advantage of all its natural light to read to your heart's content. A brick patio under the canopy of enormous oak trees is available along with a fire pit and firewood to sit outside and enjoy looking at the stunning view while you sip a glass of cider. The production facility and tasting room for Old Hill Cider is on the premises. Enjoy some while you're here. Guest access During the summer months, the vegetable and herb garden are available to enjoy. Feel free to gather fresh produce and fresh flowers for your enjoyment while you stay with us. The orchard is open seasonally for pick your own apples or peaches. In fall our freshly pressed sweet cider is available. Old Hill Hard Cider tasting room is on the farm and open for you during regular business hours. Other things to note There are many things to do and see near us. You can visit wineries, breweries, distilleries and award-winning restaurants. The cider house is on an orchard and cidery, where seasonally you can pick-your-own produce. The cidery tasting room is open year-round. It's an easy drive to ski and golf resorts, Shenandoah National Park, Skyline Drive, Luray Caverns and much more.
