Sunnyside Cottage

Our little efficiency-style cottage across the street: We have put a lot of time and effort into renovating this little cottage that sat abandoned for 15 years. Please keep in mind that THIS IS THE COUNTRY. Insect repellent is highly encouraged during the warmer months while outside. Food options and other stores are in the town of Tappannock. The space Our newest addition is this quaint little tiny home/cottage. This cottage was built in the 1800's along with the adjacent blacksmith/wagon barn. Inside, part of one of the post that supports the structure was intentionally left exposed to show off a little of its past. It is an open floor plan efficiency that has a full bathroom, central air, a kitchenette (microwave, no stove), full sized bed, a sleeper couch, and large flat-screen TV. Off street parking, a very spacious outdoor area, and a picnic bench are available for your use. Tappahannock Virginia is only 9 minutes away with dining and shopping options. There are lots of historical sites in town also. The Rappahannock tribal center is about 1.5 miles away and the chief's house which is being refurbished is just a short walk away, about 1/4 mile if that. Richmond, Fredericksburg, and Kings Dominion theme park are all about 30-50 minutes away. The main property has trails through our private wooded area that you are welcome to walk through. If you choose to walk the trails you are doing so at your own risk; we accept no liability as it is "the woods". Guest access On the grounds of the cottage, the only building that is off limits is the wagon barn. Inside the cottage, the attic and utility spaces are off limits. We offer self check-in, but we do prefer to meet people staying in our cottage. This is an extension of our home across the street. We just had a new gravel driveway installed 05/22/23. Guests no longer gain access to the cottage from between the blacksmith's shop and the cottage. You can simply drive in from the main road onto the new driveway. Check in time is between 6pm to 10pm. Other things to note *Please Read* We are not interested in being landlords or in offering long-term rentals. Our maximum stay is set to 7 (seven) days. Requesting an extended stay tells us that you did not read this or that you are a scammer; we will report you as a possible scammer. Instant book is turned off to limit the number of scam messages we receive. Just be a decent person. No unnecessary cursing, loudness, or lewd behavior. Most people can't even tell when we are at home. THIS IS THE COUNTRY. IF YOU ARE GOING TO SPEND TIME OUTSIDE DURING THE WARMER MONTHS AND ARE NOT USE TO THE COUNTRY, WE HIGHLY SUGGEST INSECT REPELLENT. Please do not leave the door opened. Enter and close the door, exit and close the door. This is done in an effort to keep critters and bugs from entering the cottage. Our check in time is from 6pm to 10pm. If you would like an earlier time simply ask; if we can accommodate it we will. If you will be late no worries, just please communicate it. If you are not checked into the space by 10pm you will be considered a no-show and your booking will be cancelled at your expense. We do what we can to be accommodating but you must communicate your intentions. If we ask a question about your booking, please respond the same way you would expect the host to respond to your questions. Answers benefit us both and make for a pleasant stay. Lastly and most importantly: By booking and entering the property you agree that you and members of your party will not hold the owners, agents, and/or representatives of the property responsible and/or liable for any injuries, damages, losses, and/or the like that might occur on the property. We do our best to maintain a clean and safe property but again, this is the country and protecting people from themselves and "nature" in all circumstances is impossible. We want you to enjoy your stay while being safe and responsible.
