Cozy, fun & artsy house at Clay.

If you are coming to the capital for business, long term stay needs in the medical field, passing through or just visiting, the Clay house will make you feel at home while you are here. The Clay house was built in 1880. We have attempted to carry on some of the styles of that time, while updating the space to feel modern as well. The space Each room has been designed with your comfort and enjoymeent in mind. We hope that you will feel inspired to cook and feel motivated to have some fun in our bright dining space. Our goal is for you to unwind and find peace in each of the living and bedroom spaces. Health is very important to our family as is a good sense of humor. We hope you move your body, release some tension and find a good laugh in our home gym. Afterward, have a soak in the claw foot tub on the fist level. We have included a fan, iron and board, noise canceling machine and heated blanket in Bedroom 1. In addition, a twin matress is available to accomodate and extra sleeper in Bedroom 2. Our family loves to spend time outside. There are three outdoor spaces for your enjoyment. We hope you enjoy complementary coffee on the front porch in our adirondak chairs or an afternoon snack and bird watching on the back porch cafe table and chairs. During the warm months the outdoor bed and pillows makes a nice place to soak up some sun. Grill some burgers outside! If you enjoy walking, walk 5 blocks west down 3rd St toward Woodlawn and enjoy a stroll through the historic Potwin area. Enjoy some history lessons at the benches on the round-a-bouts. The Potwin area spans from 3rd to Grove and on Greenwood and Woodlawn Avenues. In addition, a 2-block walk NorthEast up Clay St will lead you to the beautiful and historic Old Prairie Town and botanical garden. The Clay house is 1.2 miles from the capital and downtown approximately a 5 minute drive. The Clay house is 2 miles from the North Topeka Arts and Entertainment District (NOTO) and an approximate 5 minute drive. NOTO offers eclectic boutique and thrift shopping, arts, specially coffee and delicious healthy treats at the Onyx cafe. Lastly, the Clay house is 2.2 miles from Washburn University and an approximate 7 minute drive. You'll find a beautiful campus, quaint and unique coffee shops and a popular French restaurant, Chez Yasu. For the kids, the Meadows Park is availble for play during non-school hours and is located across the street. Guest access During your stay you will have access to the entire home and garage. There is a cellar underneath the back porch that can be utilized for severe weather safety. You can park outside on the concrete/rock pad or in the garage.
