Description
A small house for solo travelers in Ise’s old town, Kawasaki. 8 mins from Ise City and Ujiyamada stations, 15 mins to Ise Grand Shrine. Shops and cafes are nearby. Enjoy the tatami room and garden view. Not for luxury seekers, but for those who enjoy simplicity and quiet time. The shower is outside, and ceilings are low, but it’s perfect for creative guests seeking peace. The space This small, single-occupancy house offers an industrial-style space, stripped of traditional Japanese folk design elements. It’s a hidden retreat for seasoned travelers. Located north of Ise City Station, it’s a bit tucked away, but with supermarkets, drugstores, convenience stores, and a post office nearby, it’s perfect for a stay that feels like living in the neighborhood. Ise City Station and Ujiyamada Station are both about a 10-minute walk, and the nearest bus stop, Kawasaki-cho, is just 2 minutes away. Hop on the Toba-bound bus (runs 4 times a day) to visit Futamiura or Toba. The entire single-story house is yours to enjoy. It has a small garden, where you might spot visiting cats—or even crabs walking around in summer! The house has semi-open spaces that blur the line between indoors and outdoors, and smokers are welcome to use these areas. In spring, open the acrylic doors to let the fresh air in, and on warm days, you can even enjoy a bath on the porch. The house opposite and next door are both vacant, so there’s no need to worry about privacy. In summer, fill the outdoor tub with water to cool off and enjoy a relaxing soak while reading a book. (Just be mindful of mosquitoes.) Autumn is also a great time to enjoy the semi-outdoor spaces. In winter, it’s too cold to use the outdoor tub, and you'll need to step outside to access the shower, but bathrobes are provided to help keep you warm. The house is well-equipped with heating: an oil fan heater, heated carpet, air conditioner, electric blankets, and traditional Japanese hanten jackets. There’s a simple kitchen, suitable for light cooking. If you need basic seasonings, just let us know. We hope you’ll enjoy arranging your stay in Ise to suit your own style. Breakfast is available, made with organically grown rice from our own fields and local ingredients. It’s a Japanese set meal served at our shop, just a 3-minute walk from the house, and costs 900 yen. Please let us know when you book if you’d like breakfast. Note that during busy farming seasons or when the host is traveling, breakfast may not be available. We appreciate your understanding. ■ Please note the following: The entrance is narrow—only 55 cm wide—and there’s a noticeable step up. If you have difficulty walking or concerns about mobility, this house may not be suitable. In case of heavy rain from typhoons or linear rain bands, the low-lying land can sometimes let water into the house. The water usually drains away soon, so please keep your belongings raised as a precaution. There has been only one incident of indoor flooding in the past, and countermeasures are now in place. If extreme rain is expected, we will guide you to either our other guesthouse or the host’s home, about a 10-minute drive away. Although this has never happened before, we want to inform you just in case. As this is a residential area, please keep noise to a minimum at night. Registration Details M240013534
