Exceptional Purbeck Holiday Home sleeping 2-6

Delightful detached cottage in the sought after Purbeck village of Church Knowle, with Corfe Castle at the bottom of the road. High quality self catering accommodation for 2-6 guests in 4 bedrooms: 3 doubles (2x King, 1x Queen 4ft6) and a child’s single. One well behaved dog permitted; dog rules apply! This is strictly a no smoking property, in the house or garden please. Come and explore this incredible part of Dorset @homestayretreats The space Fossil Cottage sleeps up to 6 guests in 4 bedrooms: 3 double bedrooms (two King and a 4ft 6 double) with a further single child’s bedroom (small but cosy with children’s books). The cottage is suitable for 6 guests only including children; the dining table and sofas seat up to 6. There is a family bathroom and small shower area to the back double (see floor plan in Additional Photos) and a downstairs cloakroom. ​ The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need for preparing breakfast, lunch, supper or even baking cakes.  There is a tall fridge freezer, range cooker, Nespresso coffee machine, washing machine and dish washer. You are not expected to bring any kitchen or utility basics; my larder is there for use, so tea, coffee, hot chocolate, sugar, salt, pepper, cooking oil, flours, pasta etc are available for use, as well as T-towels, dish cloths, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, kitchen roll, loo paper, washing detergent and softener. There is a dining room (note the table seats 6 not 7) and separate lounge with two large sofas, TV with Netflix, DVD player and a log burner (logs supplied).  ​ The garden wraps around the house and has peaceful views across the Purbeck hills from the summer house patio, and morning sunshine is best enjoyed in the front garden. The garden is reasonably secure for a dog, but only one dog please and additional dog rules apply (neighbours have cats and have not appreciated visiting dogs in their garden!) PLEASE NOTE THE GARDENER NORMALLY VISITS LATE MORNING ON A THURSDAY FOR 3 HOURS. Guest access This property is not suitable for guests with mobility issues as there are outside steps to the property, and the cottage staircase is quite steep with no hand rail (decorative only & banisters would not take someone’s weight). Please mind your head going up the stairs as the landing overhead is low! The cottage is let as a whole but there is a second lounge which is kept locked. The Wi-Fi box is in this room - if it needs re-setting just let me know. Parking is at the rear of the cottage. Please turn slowly up the access track by the red telephone box as the entrance is steeper than it looks. Do also take care when leaving as some cars drive fast through the village. Other things to note I hope you find Fossil Cottage to be your perfect holiday home with everything you need for a relaxing break @homestayretreats Welcome provisions, locally sourced where possible will await your arrival, so shopping before you come is not essential. Explore Purbeck and the Jurassic Coast - this beautiful part of Dorset is an easy weekend trip from London.  Take the steam train from Corfe to Swanage to see the sea, visit Chococo, Love Cake and the art galleries, or for fish and chips on the sea front, and make sure you visit the sandy dunes of the National Trust beaches at Studland (and book a sauna!), and explore the ruins of Corfe Castle with coffee at The Green Goat deli. ​ I recommend breakfast or coffee and cake at Love Cake in Swanage, or The Bear in Wareham; supper at The Narrows in Swanage or The Bankes Arms in Corfe; and Sunday lunch is good at The Salt Pig Too in Swanage or The Weld Arms in Lulworth.  Enjoy your stay!
