Description
Adorable & freshly renovated 4BR riverfront cottage located centrally, between Highlands and Franklin near the Nantahala National Forest. Our cottage is placed on nearly 3 acres of flat, riverfront terrain conveniently right off of Highlands Rd. We love relaxing on the screened in side porch, surrounded by nature within view of the river and enjoying the sounds of the birds. Unwind in the clawfoot soaking tub - a peaceful retreat to relax & enjoy the Smoky Mountains and outdoor activities. The space This brick home was recently fully updated, with all new comfortable beds & a mix of new furniture and vintage treasures from the local antique shops. The downstairs has an open layout with large couch and dining table, and the house fits up to 8 guests very comfortably. We also enjoy sitting on the on the side porch with a beverage or roasting some marshmallows by the fire-pit and enjoying the river and mountain views. The well equipped kitchen features a french door fridge with an ice maker, microwave, induction range/oven, coffee maker (drip and French Press) pots, pans, utensils, dishes, and glassware are all included. We also provide a gas grill for outdoor BBQs, just keep in mind sometimes the tank may require filling. The expansive upstairs bathroom is brand new with no expense spared- new clawfoot double slipper soaking tub, walk in shower with dual heads, and built in bluetooth-controlled speakers to play your choice of relaxing music. Our space is conveniently located in between three tourist friendly areas: Franklin, Highlands (10 miles) and the Cashiers and Lake Glenville area (8 miles). In the area, there are over 15 waterfalls, including the 200-foot cascading Cullasaja Falls and above that is Dry Falls, a powerful 65-foot waterfall that you can walk under. We also recommend renting a pontoon boat and spending the day at the nearby Lake Glenville. Kids (and adults!) love gem mining for local gems such as rubies & garnet, trout fishing, hiking the Appalachian Trail and cooling off in the swimming holes. This area is also a popular spot for antique shopping, fly fishing, and great locally owned restaurants and breweries. Guest access Guests have full access to the house and property grounds including outdoor fire pit, barring the following, which are padlocked: -two owners closets, one in the river room bedroom upstairs and another in the living room closet. -the below-grade basement -the green shed Please do not tamper with the locks. Other things to note The property has 25 Mbit Down/2Mbit Up DSL. Cell service can be spotty due to the mountains and tree coverage-please get wifi details and write them down ahead of time. It is alsohelpful to turn 'wifi calling' on your cell phones to have best availability. The property is large and spacious but small children should always be supervised outdoors- the driveway sits off a 2 lane NC highway, and the river can be entered directly from the property. We bring our little ones here regularly but always keep an eye on them.
