Perfect for family vacations, romantic getaways, solo retreats, backcountry adventures, fishermen and hunters, or artists and writers. More of an experience than just a place to stay ... This is truly the most unique and secluded rental to be found anywhere in Trinity County! The space First homesteaded over 130 years ago during the gold rush years, this is the very first time this magical property has ever been opened to vacation visitors! Tucked into it's own private Trinity Alps valley this rental is an ultimate mountain experience yet outfitted with every modern amenity. The impressive Trinity Alps encompass a 525,00 acre mountain wilderness. Here you will find your sturdy and efficient A-frame cabin confidently nestled into the Southern folds of this majestic setting. The cabin is equipped with every modern comfort including A/C, wood stove, backup generator, full kitchen, two bathrooms with tubs, hot water, satellite internet/wifi, apple smart tv, and on-grid utility power! The entire property is irrigated with pure snow-fed spring water from our own private source. (Ask us about a soak in our intimate wood-fired hot tub for an extra fee, Fall - Spring). Inside the cabin: There are two upstairs bedrooms which are curtained off from one another. One bathroom upstairs and one bathroom downstairs. A cozy living room with fireplace. And a modern kitchen with small dining area. There is also an attached storage room with washer and dryer for guest use. Be prepared for the best sleep of your life in the deep quiet of nature. Both upstairs bedrooms feature open beam ceilings and vaulted picture windows, offering clear unobstructed views of the surrounding forest. The only light coming in through the windows at night will be the light of the Milky Way and the moon. The larger bedroom has a queen size bed with a dreamy organic latex mattress. The smaller bedroom offers two twin sized memory foam mattresses. For a total of three beds and a fourth sleeping option on the living room couch. During the warm months (May - October) we offer two additional outside glamping areas. 1) A luxury 16' lotus belle "bedroom", complete with its own queen size memory foam bed and two single futon pads, which is located in the forest a short walk through the yard 2) A full-size bed with a "princess" mosquito canopy can be prepared in the open yard next to the lily pond. Outside your door is a beautifully manicured yard with sprawling green lawns, vibrant ornamental flowers, a peaceful lily pond, and generous veggie garden. We provide several yard games like badminton and bocci ball, and there is even a trampoline for the kids! You can relax on the comfy patio couches under the shade tree or share a meal at the picnic table. Encircling the yard is an endless enchanted forest filled with rare flora and fauna. You might find: a gently flowing stream, a parade of mountain wildflowers, golden blankets of Fall leaves, softly falling snowflakes, or encounters with some of the most beautiful and unique creatures of Northern California including rare migrant song birds, owls, eagles, bears, white tailed deer, ring-tailed cats, tree frogs and salamanders, dragonflies or swirling clouds of newly hatched butterflies! When you are ready to cool off the river is only a short walk or drive away. You will have access to some of the most coveted swimming and fishing holes in all of Trinity County on the pristine East Fork and North Fork rivers (pure snow melt flowing straight off of the granite peaks), as well as the impressively large Main Stem of the Trinity River. All within 5 - 15 minutes from the front door. There are two nearby trailheads which provide unfettered access into the heart of the Trinity Alps, the Hobo Gulch trailhead and Canyon Creek trailhead, both a moderate drive away. Guest access You will have access to all the walkable grounds of the property and surrounding forest, in addition to your private cabin. Other things to note We believe that the greatest gifts our guests can receive from their stay here are the un-tangible qualities of being immersed in the natural world, free from the chaos and distractions of modern society. It is an experience which we are sure will both touch your heart and restore something essential within your own human soul! That being said, we want to convey that this rental is a charmingly rustic and somewhat vintage house set in an untamed wilderness. Expect some small imperfections and quirks. Because of our isolated location there are many elements beyond our control, and so we ask all guests to please read ALL THE WAY THROUGH the following information before booking so that you can make a fully informed decision about embarking on this unique experience ... KIDS: Because the cabin is not childproofed in any way and because the environment may be hazardous for toddlers we are not currently hosting children under 4yrs old. We are genuinely sorry about this but for the safety of our guests we feel it is the most appropriate guideline for this rental. DOGS: We are dog people and we welcome your furry friends! However, we do have some necessary parameters: YOU MUST INCLUDE DOGS IN YOUR RESERVATION DETAILS. There is a limit of 2 dogs per reservation. You will be charged a penalty if you show up with more than 2 dogs. No dogs are allowed in any of the sleeping areas. If your dogs go into any of these bedroom spaces or if we detect dog hair in any of the household bedding you will be charged a penalty. We do not provide Dog Beds. PLEASE BRING A BED FOR YOUR DOG. Dogs may not sleep outside or cause any noise disturbances (barking) between the hours of 10pm - 8am. If dogs are causing any damage to the yard, house or anything else you will be asked to create immediate solutions or you may be asked to leave with no refunds. Aggressive or territorial dogs are prohibited. Finally, please note that the the heartworm parasite is present in this area, so if you are visiting during the months when mosquitos are out (May - October) please consult with your vet about heartworm prevention medication before your visit! WILD ANIMALS & INSECTS: Please note that this is an un-fenced wilderness property and that all manner of wild animals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and insects pass through the land freely and in great abundance! This might include bears, rattle snakes, rodents, mountain lions and stinging insects. Please use your own judgement in visiting the untamed mountains. No refunds will be given for wildlife encounters of any kind either inside or outside of the house. ELECTRICITY: Our electricity is generally very reliable and constant. Because we are on-grid and located in a remote mountain location, when the power does occasionally go out we are reliant on the utility company to restore our power. Usually the outage will be fixed within 24hrs or less, however it can occasionally go out for several days or longer. In case of an outage the cabin is outfitted with a back-up generator which can be run for no more than a maximum of 5 hours per day. No refunds will be given in the case of a power outage. PHONE SERVICE: There is no cell phone service on the property. The nearest cellular service is a 20min drive down the road. INTERNET: The satellite internet is generally fast enough for basic web browsing and email. Video calls usually work but not always. If the power goes out the internet will not be available except when the back-up generator is turned on. To date, we have had no internet interruptions, however please note we are in a very isolated location and cannot guarantee the internet, and that no refunds will be given if there is an interruption. HEAT: The primary source of heat during the cold months, or anytime that the power is out, is the wood stove. Firewood will be provided for your stay as well as small electric heaters. A/C: Two window A/C units are installed during the "hot" season (generally June - August). If the power goes out the A/C units will only be operable when the back-up generator is in use. HOT WATER: The hot water heater runs on electricity and is situated inside the house in the corner of the main upstairs bedroom. You may hear the appliance running softly from time to time. WATER SYSTEM: Our water system is a natural spring fed gulch located on the hill above the land. Due to the inherent nature of the water system some amount of fine sediment coming from the taps is normal. Generally, there is ample water for standard house hold use such as dishes, bathing and laundry, however from time to time the flow of water can become interrupted due to clogged valves, leaks, etc. No refunds will be given if the water appears "dirty", or if it becomes temporarily unavailable during repairs, or for low water volumes. If there is no house hold water at all for more than 24hrs the guests have the option to cancel their reservation for a refund of the remaining unused nights. DRINKING WATER: Clean drinking water will always be provided at all times. DRIVEWAY ACCESS: To access the land be prepared for the 1 mile steep dirt driveway off of the paved road. There may be bumps, puddles, potholes, rocks, branches, fallen trees or other obstacles on the road. There is a seasonal stream crossing which flows through the yard near your rental cabin. It generally flows January - May and is generally (not always) shallow enough to cross in a low clearance car. If you do not wish to cross the stream with your vehicle there is a place to park and a walk-bridge for carrying your things across to the cabin. This road is accessible by 2WD vehicle during the dry season only (June - September or anytime that the weather has been dry). Generally speaking, most 2WD sedans will be able to drive up the road, we even bring the family Prius up on a regular basis! During the wet season an AWD vehicle may be required (October - May, or anytime that it is wet). Please check with us before booking if you are visiting Oct-May and do not have an AWD vehicle. When the driveway is wet 2WD cars are prohibited. No refunds will be given in the case that a guest has not brought a vehicle with the correct traction, or for the condition of the road or the stream crossing. The only exceptions are in the case of impassable snow, a landslide or an impassable tree which cannot be removed expediently on the access road. In those three cases a full refund will be given if the guest is unable to access the property. A refund will also be given for any unused nights if a substantial amount of inclement snow forces a guest to leave in their vehicle before the end of their reservation. We encourage all guests to ask us about the current road & weather conditions before they arrive. SEASONAL FLAME RESTRICTIONS: We enforce a strict "No Flames" policy on the land May - October. This includes wood campfires, however we offer a gas fire-pit on the patio so you can still enjoy firelight evenings under the stars! Further details of this policy will be made available when you arrive. Any violation of the policy will result in an immediate termination of the booking with no refunds. FIRE SEASON & EVACUATION: Fire season in Northern California is generally between May - October, however it should be noted that a forest fire can start at other times as well. There is only one road in or out of the valley and this will be the only means of evacuation. In the case of an official evacuation warning or a mandatory evacuation order a full refund will be given for any remaining nights in the reservation. Refunds will not be given for smokey air conditions or for nearby forest fires if there have been no official warnings or orders issued for our address. HUNTING & FIRE-ARMS: Hunters are welcome, however no hunting or shootIng of fire-arms is allowed within the valley itself. All hunting must be done by driving completely out of the valley and accessing the forest from another location. You are welcome to bring your game back to the property at the end of your hunting day. Any hunting or killing of animals, or shooting of guns, anywhere within the valley will result in an immediate termination of the booking with no refunds. NOISE DISTURBANCES: Excessively loud music is also restricted outside on the land as it can disrupt and disturb the local wildlife during sensitive mating, nesting or foraging times. CANNA-FRIENDLY We are an authentic CA homestead and you may see a few lovely canna-plants growing between the months of May - October.
