Tiny house farm stay, minutes to AppalachianTrail!
Description
Unwind in a spacious tiny home on a working farm with vegetables, herbs, fruits, dairy goats, sheep, and chickens. Enjoy the views, farm fresh food, local hiking and swimming holes, or if it's cold, cozy up by the wood stove! We offer sliding scale farm-to-table dinners on weekends. We love sharing our farmstead with guests and also understand if guests prefer tranquil time to themselves. We are a 20 min drive to Dragon's Tooth, and 10 minutes to VA42 (Kelly Knob or the Keffer Oak). The space The tiny home includes a full kitchen (stove, microwave, two sinks, oven, coffee maker, tea kettle, a selection of traditional medicinal teas and fair trade coffees, cast iron pan, and stainless pots of various sizes, plus all kitchen amenities we could think of!), a bedroom with a queen bed and closet, a loft with a full size mattress, french doors to a side porch, and a covered front porch. There's a simple bathroom with toilet and shower. We use biodegradable soaps and our limestone spring feeds the tiny house so you'll drink sweet alkaline water (and shower in it, too!) We have two livestock guardian dogs who protect the sheep, goats, chickens, and ducks, and sometimes you hear them during the day and night. They are super friendly and fun to interact with. Guest access Guests are welcome to hike around the 33 acre property that includes a forest, a meadow, sheep and goat pasture land, and gardens with vegetables and fruit trees. In the winter, the greenhouse is lovely to spend time in to warm up! We’re grateful for the opportunity to connect with many different people through sharing our farm and hosting on Airbnb! Other things to note We only Airbnb a tiny house on our farm and are committed to not driving rental prices up or making rentals harder to find in our local community. We’d never buy a place just for Airbnb or similar short term rentals. Seasonal highlights: spring: enjoy observing or playing with goat kids in the pasture summer: tomatoes, melons, berries; incredible fireflies; and a dip in a nearby swimming hole! fall: beautiful colors and farm harvest including sweet potatoes, candy roaster squash, and more. Check out the hanging rock raptor observatory nearby to see hawks and eagles during their migration. winter: a cozy wood stove and walks in the pasture and wetland (two springs meet here)
