Washbourn House, Great Rissington

This historic 4 bedroom farmhouse with extensive gardens, outdoor fireplace, and separate games / kids barn has been carefully modernised to offer an unusual amount of space and comfort for 9 guests (or a max of up to 11 if lots of children sharing). With a variety of outdoor dining areas and views across orchards fields and the Windrush valley it’s extremely private and secluded yet only a 2 minute walk to the village pub. The space The house was designed in the 1980’s by my Uncle, an artist and craftsman. Hand made doors, bookshelves, skirting and cabinetry make this a unique and wonderful home. The stair rail was forged in his workshop in the neighbouring barns where he also had a pottery. The garden offers a variety of spaces to relax including seating areas, a dining table for 16, sun loungers and an outdoor fireplace set in the walled garden with cane sofas nestled amongst flower beds - the perfect setting for candlelit barbecues long into the evening. We also have a games barn adjacent to the house with basketball, table tennis, darts, gymnastics bar etc. great fun for the kids and peace in the house while they go wild next door come rain or shine! Also a great space for teenagers to hang out or even a quiet spot for yoga / work calls / revision or just to escape from everything! Guest access Guests will have use of the entire house, gardens and access to the orchards and fields of our family farm. In the summer we have a bell tent sleeping six set up in the orchard and a badminton court with net, rackets, shuttlecocks. there is also a table tennis table and bats, balls in one of the barns. With expansive views across the Windrush Valley this is an excellent Cotswold experience and dog walkers heaven. Swim in the river, or walk to the nearby villages and pubs. Other things to note This house is unusually spacious and is excellent for families looking for a chance to spend time together in the countryside. With a very large sitting room with tv as well as second upstairs tv in one of the bedrooms. We have a lovely walled garden with a large dining area, outside sofa and a built in fireplace that catches that last of the evening sun. There is a projector and screen that can be set up outdoors too for al fresco movies or indoors by the huge open fire.
