Holiday cottage "Elverhøj" in the wild Bornholm nature
Description
Our charming, slightly different country house Soldalen is located in Nordlandet, 6 kilometers from the sea in 3 directions, away from the main roads and tourist attractions in the middle of Bornholm's wild nature. We are Melanie and Aslak, our children and grandparents, the farm dog and some cats. The farm includes goats, rabbits and chickens. Elverhøj is one of 4 holiday apartments on our property, originally a small farmhouse - today a village-like settlement with enchanting small houses in about 10 hectares of forest. The space Our detached, simple but cozy cottage "Elverhøj" is located in the middle of the property. It's sometimes lively here between the main house and the kindergarten. There is room for 5 people in 1 open room and a bunk bed and the apartment is equipped with a kitchen, living room, bathroom and a large terrace. Perfect for a small/medium-sized family. Soldalen is an active, working place with permanent residents and animals, a nature kindergarten (Liden Stina), a farm shop/café that sells local products, a small apple cider mill, a knitting workshop and in the summer circus performances in our garden. As a guest, you have your own apartment/cottage, which is built for the needs of a small family, and plenty of space in the woods if you want peace and quiet. At the same time, you are in the middle of daily life on the spot, which is mostly very quiet and peaceful, but the days we have circus in the garden, the place can suddenly be filled with people. At Soldalen, we strive to have a more sustainable business cluster and therefore we are more concerned with recycling and functionality than with everything being new, i.e. things are well used. The apartments are not newly renovated. On the other hand, we try to use environmentally friendly materials when there is something that needs to be made new. Guest access Elverhøj is the apartment that is furthest away from the driveway, which is not really far, about 100 meters. Other things to note Things that might be useful to know before you book: "Elverhøj" is located right in front of the entrance to our nature kindergarten "Liden Stina" (17 children when everyone is there), so you will meet the sweet children, who are also part of Soldalen's everyday life when they are dropped off and picked up. The bedroom and loft are open, i.e. they are separated from the room, but there is no door to the living room. Plus, the ceiling is low. The bedroom and loft are accessible from small stairs, which may be challenging for families with small children who are not used to stairs. Our water comes from our own well drilling, has been examined and has a good drinking quality. It tastes a little different, though. Sometimes the hot water can smell a little of sulfur. There is not enough water pressure for everyone to be in the bath at the same time, so it can happen that sometimes, when there is not enough water, you have to try again later. When there are not many people using the water, or when you are the first one of the day, it can take up to 3 minutes for the water to be hot. The apartments are "cottages" and have no fixed heating. When it rains or when the humidity is high, it sometimes feels a little damp in the apartments and it can be difficult to get the floor in the bathroom dry. We have heating elements that can be borrowed for a small fee and we are happy to provide extra towels to dry the floor with. We live in the countryside and the internet connection is not very good. The apartment does not have its own internet, but you can sit in our courtyard café and use the internet there. Our motto is "as long as something works, there is no reason to throw it out", so things are used and we keep the decor simple. In addition, it is of course very important to us that you are comfortable while you are here, so you are always welcome to ask if anything is missing. We will always try to find a solution.
