The Living room features: -Relaxing living room space with an LG smart TV (with complimentary access to Xfinity cable via Xfinity Stream App. You have the option to sign into your own streaming apps.) -Spacious eat-in kitchen area for family cooking/dining and/or working remotely -Snug couch that seats three (3) and comfortable chair that seats one (1). Nestled against Lake Michigan to the east and Hyde Park to the north, Woodlawn is home of the University of Chicago and future home of the President Obama Library in Jackson Park. Full of culture and life, Woodlawn is on the brink of change as there are many new constructs and rehabs happening around the area. There's said to be a revitalization coming to the housing tenement that is two blocks west of this property. This urban, homey retreat is the perfect location because of its relative location to everything. A short car ride to most places worth going to. Woodlawn has a vibrancy and richness that makes one feel at home. Woodlawn is the home of Emmett Till and the home that he grew up in is two blocks east of this bnb. This is the true, authentic Chicago. The residents are still neighborly and kind but this is NOT the "plush", high-end part of Chicago—we are not in the Gold Coast or Lincoln Park—it's UP & COMING, and has not “arrived” yet. This is the true definition of the inner-city, where children still play on the sidewalks and run through water hoses in the summer. With its proximity to the University of Chicago and Hyde Park to the north, Lake Michigan to the east, and only 16 minutes from downtown, Woodlawn is approaching a grand revival. We are Woodlawn strong! Please note: This is not a “walkable” neighborhood. All of the eateries and shops are a short distance away by car-ride in neighboring Hyde Park. You will hear street noise at all times of night sometimes. You will hear people riding down the street with loud music...neighbors laughing and loud-talking. If that bothers you...please do not book here. This is a predominantly BLACK neighborhood. -THIS IS BLACK (African American), INNER-CITY CHICAGO- You will hear street noise at night You will hear people playing music in the mornings and evenings You will see people gathering on their porches and in front of their homes. ***If any of this scares you or makes you uncomfortable, please do not book here.*** The BEST way to get around is to either have a rental car or grab an Uber. Public transportation is an option, if that’s your thing. I cannot vouch for public trans, as I have a vehicle and have not used public transport in many years. :-) The Green line "L" train is only two blocks away. This train can take you downtown Chicago. You will be charged for stained sheets. Games are here for you to use but must remain here; they are not for you to take with you. If any item that belongs here leaves when you leave YOU WILL BE CHARGED ACCORDINGLY. If you’re going to use the soaps, lotions provided please take them with you or throw them away. Do not place them back on the bed tray. :-) As far as early check in is concerned, it’s possible but I wouldn’t really know until a few days before. It’s possible someone could book the desired date and they wouldn’t check out until 11am of the day you’re trying to check in early. It wouldn’t be possible for you to accommodate an early check in then. However, if no one books the date, I would require a $75 fee. That fee goes to my cleaners to get in the property earlier than their normal time (usually between 11am-12pm). The space is cleaned the day of guests arrival usually between 11am-3pm…so an early check-in kind of rearranges everything
