Description
This newly-built log home is on 7 acres close to Fairbanks - 10 minutes from the airport and 15 minutes from downtown. No neighbors in sight and an expansive view of an Alaskan meadow with fabulous northern light watching from the downstairs bedroom and living room. The house has a cathedral ceiling, loft bedroom with private bathroom and all the amenities, including dishwasher and laundry. It's right on a bike trail and a ten-minute walk to the Tanana River. The space The cabin is 24'x32' with a half-loft (almost 1200 square feet). You enter into the main room with a cathedral ceiling of all wood with a large fan. The Great Room has a full kitchen with all new appliances, including a dishwasher, microwave and propane stove, plenty of dishes, pots and pans, coffee pot, and water kettle. You will arrive to a starter set of coffee, tea and sugar as well as some breakfast items, cooking oil, spices, herbs and some baking items. There's an island bar topped with beautiful walnut wood slab with four comfortable stools which are great for eating, relaxing and visiting. The Great Room also has a living room area with a futon couch which pulls out to a full bed, a wood stove, TV and L-shaped desk and computer area with a HP printer. Patio doors give a full view of the meadow with no house in sight (except the ones on the distant hills). Instead you may see moose or foxes that inhabit the area. Downstairs is a bedroom with a queen bed, large hanging closet and two large windows where you can lie in bed and watch the northern lights when they are out. Also downstairs there is a bathroom with tub and shower and an utility room with washer and dryer. In the Great Room, there is a locally-made wrought-iron spiral staircase that goes up to a spacious bedroom with a queen bed and private bathroom (no shower). There is a half wall giving it privacy. The place is 10 minutes from the airport or the nearest grocery store (Fred Meyers or Safeway), 8 minutes from the University of Alaska Fairbanks, and 15 minutes from downtown. There are several good restaurants and a gas station with a convenience store within four miles. Guest access With the exception of two closets, the whole house is accessible. Other things to note First, this listing says it is 2860 Old Chena Pump. The physical road sign says Ludecker but the digital maps and Airbnb call it Old Chena Pump. You can put in either road name and it will show the same place. The house has thin interior walls and ceiling, it has an open floor plan so sounds do travel inside. We have wifi router but unfortunately, since it is a new house, we were unable to get cable internet and now have to rely on cellular so the reception isn't always the fastest but it's workable. Most cellular services work here but can be in and out a bit. We do have an outdoor receptacle and cord for plugging in cars when it is cold.
