Crayfish Cove: Pet-Friendly Beach House

Situated in the Kogelberg biosphere, the baboons still roam free and birdwatchers flock here from all over the world. The False Bay ocean water is warmer than the Atlantic beaches in Cape Town itself and the lagoon and big beaches at Rooiels make it an ideal spot for kids. The town still has dirt roads and there are fantastic hiking trails in the area. Our own home is a rugged beach cottagy feel on the quiet side of town looking straight onto sea and mountains. For twenty years, our family and pets have enjoyed magnificent times, without TV (yet with great wi-fi when we need to work when out here); outdoors showers in our courtyard, wave-riding, or cooking outdoors or indoors as the mood and weather permits. It is a very special place. If you are the air-con and butler type of family, this may be too earthy for your taste. And oh yes, I almost forgot to mention the whale watching from our porch!! Guest access We have personal belongings in the home, including hundreds of books. The whole place is yours to enjoy while here. Close-by to Rooiels is the Bettys Bay penguin colony, Harold Porter Botanical Gardens, tens of white beaches, countless hikes and mountain trails, winelands and more. If you feel desperate for the city and malls, Cape Town is 75 kms away but only 25 kms from here is a mega-mall with movies and more at Somerset West. Other things to note Security concerns most visitors to South Africa. Our town is small (200 homes) and have nightly patrols by a security company. The house has an alarm system and is fully secured by storm shutters and gates. If it tells you anything, we sleep under the stars on the porch on starbright nights.
