SURROUNDINGS Hiking trails right from the front door lead along various routes and trails into the Mediterranean maquis of the Parco del Conero. The nature-protected regional park covers over 6,000 hectares of forests, gorges and the summit of Monte Conero, which rises spectacularly 572 metres above the sea. The views of the sea are breathtaking. La Riviera del Conero is only 3 kilometres away and is considered one of the most beautiful landscapes on the Adriatic. White beaches are embedded in the steep coastal landscape of white limestone cliffs. Le Due Sorelle (the 2 sisters), bizarre rock formations in the turquoise blue sea, are the favourite symbol of Sirolo. The water quality receives the international ‘La Bandiera Blu’ eco-label year after year. The nearest beaches are at SIROLO; the wide and fine sandy beaches between NUMANA and MARCELLI are convenient for families, while surfers will find their paradise south of Marcelli or in PORTONOVO. The picturesque bays, beaches and first-class fish restaurants of Portonovo are famous. For sailors, the small marinas of Numana, Portonovo and Ancona are the nearest ports of call. Non-sailors can hire motorboats or go on wonderful sightseeing trips along the rugged coastline to the Due Sorelle. Guest access The guest area is independent and separately accessible via the large outdoor staircase with loggia. The ground floor below is now a yoga & seminar room, where lessons can be added on request. The guest area on the upper floor covers 130 sqm with a large central salon as well-equipped kitchen-living room with internet access, and access to the four bedrooms and two bathrooms. The spacious outdoor area in the garden with over 5000 square meters is fully screened and private and offers many opportunities for relaxation in the greenery. Ready are tables, chairs, umbrellas, sun loungers as well as a barbecue. Hidden between oleander and almond tree, a shower invites you to refresh under the open sky. Parking spaces are available free of charge within the fenced-in property and are not accessible to the public. Other things to note SIROLO: the pride of the Adriatic Coast. This idyllic town is located 12.5 miles south of Ancona on the southern ledge of Monte Conero (1877 ft) on a picturesque hill directly above the sea. With its white, narrow alleyways and its tree-lined piazza that seems to reach out over the sea Sirolo is a gem among Adriatic towns. Enjoy the breathtaking view of Monte Conero and the sea during the day and the gentle sea breeze at night - preferably with a refreshing aperitif. LA RIVIERA DEL CONERO: one of the most beautiful bathing resorts of the Adriatic. White, sandy beaches nestle against the steep coastline of white limestone cliffs. They have remained largely untouched by buildings and other architectural intrusions. Le Due Sorelle (The Two Sisters), two bizarrely shaped rocks jutting from the turquoise sea, are the popular symbol for this area. THE MARCHE: Italy’s most varied and yet most typical region. Situated between the Apennine Mountains and the Adriatic Sea, between Emilia-Romagna and Abruzzo, the Marche offer all of the characteristics of the Italian landscape. The people therefore describe them lovingly as “the whole of Italy in one region”. ANCONA: capital of the Marche and bustling seaport. A city on the second glance, Ancona will soon reveal its secret charms: the Duomo di San Ciriaco - the city’s cathedral built in the Romanesque and Gothic style - that towers precariously above the harbour, or the Arch of Trajan amidst the ancient docks, which were founded by the Romans in 278 BC. A walk up to the cathedral with its stunning view over city and port is well worth the while. It will lead you through the former Jewish quarter, up narrow winding streets and flights of steps, past ancient trading houses and palaces. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - SURROUNDINGS AND EXCURSIONS SIROLO is the pearl of the Adriatic coast. The idyllic place is 20 km south of Ancona at the head of Monte Conero (572m) steeply above the sea. RECANATI (25 km) is a picturesque place and home to the poet Giacomo Leopardi. MACERATA (35 km), an elegant town, hosts the July / August Opera Festival in the Sferisterio, the second largest pre-arena next to Verona. Loreto (15 km) is one of the most visited places of pilgrimage in the world and houses the birthplace of Maria of Nazareth with the famous black Madonna. LE GROTTE DI FRASASSI contain the largest single cave in Europe with a height of 240m (Milan Cathedral!). A fantastic stalactite cave world in the middle of the Gol della Rossa / Frasassi nature park (80 km). The drive inland is worth seeing with its wildly romantic limestone gorges. The Monte Sibellini Gran Sasso National Park (160 km) with over 40 km of mountain peaks is an exciting, legendary high mountain landscape for enchanting hikes. CULINARY the region offer a wide range of fish and meat cuisine, as well as wines, from simple country wine to top quality from gentle hills above the sea. The best known is the excellent white "Verdicchio" from the grape of the same name. It smells of peaches, apples, lemons and roses. The long, spicy, bitter finish is typical. The "Rosso Conero" is made around the Conero and is made from the Montepulciano grape. This strong ruby red wine usually smells of blackberries and plums, has a rich, spicy, warm and long-lasting taste. It often ripens into a great wine. The wine alone is reason enough to travel the brands. SHOP The Marche is the shoe region par excellence, Tods is just one of the big names that have their origins here, in the seaside towns of Porto Sant'Elpidio e Sant'Elpidio a Mare. The Diego Della Valle empire also includes the brands Hogan, Fay and Roger Vivier. You can shop in Tod's Outlet, via Filippo della Valle 1, Casette D'Ete, Sant'Elpidio a Mare, and next to it you can continue with Prada, Pollini, Debut, Samsonite, Fratelli Rossetti.
